Thinking of selling Vulcan Tactic due to Taipan Mutant!

So, I am at an impasse... I bought a .25 Vulcan Tactic back during the transition of TopGun Airgun ownership to Joe Broncato, and I absolutely love the gun. It's a hammer, and very accurate. That said, the Taipan Mutant Std I bought recently is getting all the love lately as it is lighter, quieter, and has a higher shot count in .22. It is so consistent and spitting the 18.1JSB's out at 930fps.

So I'm am thinking of selling the Vulcan.. I have heard a few others say that once they got the Mutant, dust gathered on everything else.

What would you do?

I have tuned/repaired more vulcans then Mutant its like 15 to 1 mutant and that mutant didnt really need a tune--just because this guy wanted all his AG tuned by me. So I know both this guns inside out---the Mutant has the best machining and finish and design and the only complain is the stock finish and with the newest batch of stock they made great improvement in finish. One thing that really gets me on the vulcan is the metallic noise it makes while being cock and fired--just an ugly sound it make compared to the mutant.

A lot of vulcan lovers out there will hate ME----if I have to select one of the 2----> the Mutant hands down!

just my .5 cent inputs so don't take it personal.

And yes I'm getting the 1st .25 mutant to TEST!

I am in the same boat, I have to force myself to rotate my two crickets along with my Mutant short,
I really like my 22 and 25 Crickets both are tuned by the man himself,
But I catch myself always reaching for the mutant,,,
For me anyway, Its short, light weight and super accurate, Its got a good shot count and it just equals FUN,,,,
I am really going to hate it when the 25 Mutant comes out,,,

Piqued my interest. Been eyeing the Mutant because of the price, albeit I need to part with one of my .25 Vulcan's and my AA S410 to make space How many shots do you get with the .22 Mutant? What are the differences between the "shorty" and "standard" and "long' besides length (I assume)? Is the new .25 Mutant significantly different from the .22 version? What about warranty behind the Mutant? AGT has been phenomenal.

This has piqued my interest as well. I'm interested in hearing the answers to those same questions.

The shorty is very short, and was the model that had all the barrel manufacturers controversy. It has a shorter barrel and air cylinder than the Standard which I have. Shot count and velocity is also lower with the shorty variant.

I am getting around 60 shots on the standard. I have not chrono'd that through an entire 60 shot string though. Will try and do that this weekend if I can.

Talon Tunes and AGT have great support, and I am not worried about any issues there.

As as for the .25 Mutant. No pictures exist yet that I have seen, but I am led to believe it is the same basic design as the others.

Difference between the short, std, and long are length..... Jk

I can only talk to the short and std. The standard is roughly 5" longer (short 22" and the std 27") and approximately 2x the shot count (mine is ~70 shots/fill before falling off reg) and that was with a 235 bar fill (tank can hold 250 bar). I love the trigger also!

each mag used 15-20 bar (12 rounds) at approx 910fps with 14.3 crossman premiere (brown box) .25" @ 30 yards

i have not had a chance to run a full string on my shorty (one of the old ones without a choked barel) but the barrel was replaced with a listone. I can say that both are equally accurate as of now and sound is extremely quiet. I phone app decibel10 puts them in the 88-90 decibel range with that standard registering higher but to me the sound is a lower pitch so seems quieter.

It use to be like beetle juice, if you said taipan, mutant, vulcan something bad showed up. Haha trolls. I've tried it in the woods, but I haven't killed one yet.
I see very few pictures or videos of hunts with the mutant. There are many folks that say they love them. I wouldn't mind seeing the gun in use. Usually when people say it's my go to, or favorite gun, they post pictures. Cough um up guys. Or at least post a few kill shots. It's hard to get excited without seeing it in action. 😬
