Thinking of either the Elements Nexus or the Athlon Cronus G2 users opinions

For all of you airgunners that have either the Elements Nexus or Athlon Cronus G2 which is the better optic for older eyes solid clear glass and great tracking and adjustment with return to zero everytime. I know there are others but looking at these two. Currently have Athlon Ares ETR 4.5x30 56. Looking to upgrade to better glass at the high end of magification. Also the the MOA reticle I have in it as well.

I also have the Ares ETR and love it. Great glass for the money. It will go on my Dreamline now. I replaced it with a Vortex AMG and could not be happier. I leaped over the $2k price point as the $1k-$2k market gave me some of my criteria and missed on others. Features for me at this level are; Eye box, weight, reticle and DOF. AMG checked off these boxes for me.

steve123, CHUCK and Odoyle should be chiming in on this with G2 experience and much knowledge.

Here's a good thread started by steve123 on the Athlon Cronus BTR G2. I picked up one a couple of weeks ago and so far I'm really impressed with it for the price. I don't own an Element Nexus nor have I looked through one so I can't give an honest comparison. I'm curious as well though. It's kind of an apples to oranges comparison between the two IMO. The Nexus magnification range is 5-20 power with an objective of 50mm. The Cronus G2 is 4.5-29 power with a 56mm objective. Also, the Nexus has a 30mm tube and the Cronus G2 has a 34mm tube. Nexus focuses down to 10 yards, Cronus G2 focuses down to 25 yards. If you do decide to pick up a Cronus G2, get it at CameralandNY. They come with free scope rings for the same price at $1600 which is what I paid. ***EDIT*** While typing this, I just checked CameralandNY and they are having a Weekend Sale until April 19th. The Cronus BTR G2 is on sale for $1440 with your choice of either a Steiner P-Series one-piece cantilever scope mount or 2 piece Warne scope rings. If you want just the scope by itself, it's going for $1399.99. Not a bad deal. I should have freakn' waited!!!

I couldn't say a thing about the Nexus because I've never looked through or handled one.

Reticle wise the G2 Cronus is about as good as it gets. Everything else about the scope is superb including the glass. The only thing I could critique is the turrets are on the stiff side but this was done to help avoid them turning by accident, they are super distinct though and have zero lash. Of course no 10Y close focus but I can turn mine down in magnification to shoot close. Also the Cronus has daylight bright illume which is very handy to use sometimes when I need contrast using a FFP reticle on low power. This years G2 turned out even better than the last version which was already a great scope. In fact so good that I like it as much as my + $4000 scopes in most ways and that really says it all right there!!!
