Could we use therm app phone attachment at the back of scope cam for recording in thermal vision?
I wonder what's up with your Thor? This video was made with my entry level Thor HD (384 1.25-5) and is actually quite clear. At their closest, the dogs are just under 25 yards, and then the one wanders out past 50. I feel like pigs would be super easy to identify at 75 yards. I'd like to have better resolution and more magnification, but for less than 2k USD, I'm very happy."Alan"There was a resent show on one of the hunting sports channels, where guys were using thermal units on iPhones to see coyotes, obviously not through glass. They also used a Fox LED spotlight to see the game, and then used their regular scope to do the shooting. I've tried that, but I never got its to work like I thought it should.
I use an ATN X-Sight II for night hunting, and nominally you don't need any thing but some ambient light. During the dark of the moon and/or no stars, an IR illuminator is required. I bring up the X-Sight, because the ATN Thor unit I have is nearly worthless for anything over about 30 yards (a bit too blotchy shall we say).
It's not IR passive but unless you are trying to hide from someone else who is IR passive it gets the job done for a lot less than $2k."techna"-5) and is actually quite clear. I have an X-Sight and a nice long range IR light source too. They're two totally different ways of seeing through darkness and both have their place. The X-Sight has the potential for identifying targets at longer ranges but can't begin to compare to the thermal for scanning. Ultimately I see myself spending money on a far more capable thermal for use on firearms, and using the Thor HD for short range pesting on an air rifle. Even though I could flip the Thor for very close to what I paid, I currently feel it has more value to me to just place it in another role."oldspook"

I kind of hijacked the thread there... so .. sorry, my bad."techna" They're two totally different ways of seeing through darkness and both have their place.
