The Vernon Austin walnut grips for my Smith & Wesson 78G arrived

This is my third set of V.A. walnut grips, and they pretty much put the icing on my 78G cake!

Congrats, Vernon makes beautiful grips for sure. The 78 is well worth the upgrade. I have a 78 and 79 both need the caps resealed but I never getaroundtoit.

now that looks great, I'm going to have to break down and order some grips I guess, I have been resisting

the caps take a 006 for the small O-ring------113 for the large one

the valve take 2- 006 rings and 1--012 ring and I made valve seals out of 1/8 urethane sheet goods with leather punches

all should be urethane

Have 2 sets of his.... both for my crosman pistols....

red lam and blue lam, great color, deep glossy finish.... Vernon's work is awesome

I have Vernon's grips on several different pistols including a beautiful set of Birdseye Maple on a S&W 78g and his work is amazing and very reasonabley priced. All mine are ambi as I'm a lefty.

Have you tried converting your 78/79g to run on HPA?

As you might know, I've converted other Co2 pistols to HPA; but have no desire to convert the Smith. Assuming a certain individual/outfit offers the correct chamber-cap to accept a hangy-tank or umbilical arrangement, it would be easy to do. But I consider both options no longer a pistol, and actually enjoy the advantages of disposable Co2 cartridges that some folks consider disadvantages.

Yes I remember those awesome 2240 builds you shared.

If you get the desire to convert the smith to HPA, Mac 1 Airguns makes an adapter for the crosman mark 1 that fits the smith. I bought a 10 ci HPA bottle for mine that will mimic the LD pistol that Tim is known for.

Either way, the smith is one of the most fun and accurate pistols to shoot!
