The ultimate in backyard friendly

I’ve got the Leshiy tuned perfectly for what I consider the ultimate backyard friendly paper and pest punching setup. Took a page out of the UK boys forced setups and found a way to do it with .25 JSB kings. Why? Well, that’s a long answer, but the net of it is I live in an urban environment where 99% of what I shoot is under 30 yards. I need to shoot as quiet as possible, but not at the expense of a clean kill. The next reason is passthrough. Airguns are not toys. I think we grossly under estimate the dangers of pass through.

As you see with all my videos, I use the rocks, or elevated position and ground to stop it. While I’ve not totally solved this issue... I think I’ve mitigated it to a comfortable space.

The reality for me, and I think many of us, is that 30ft/lbs is just not needed for pest control.. at least rats, Chipmunks, etc

If if you’re interested in how I accomplished this with the Leshiy and hybrid HUMA reg setup... read here: https://www.edgunleshiy.com/blog/2018/9/11/revisiting-backyard-friendly-airgun-tuning/

the net of it:

- EDgun Leshiy 280mm barrel (custom)

- DonnyFL Emporer v2

- HUMA sub 12ft/lb small plenum, valve/ valve return spring, and lighter hammer spring

- normal HUMA reg

- 25gr JSB Kings, 557fps, ~17 ft/lbs

proof is in the pudding. Here’s what I consider the toughest pound for pound animal I shoot... the squirrel. I’ve done no no altering of sound or sound effects so you can hear it.

If you can edit your blog you fat fingered an important typo ;) You have:

"The first thing I did was tune the gun to the slowest possible speed without impacting accuracy and ability for a clean kill. This resulted in a reg setting of 85bar shooting abotu 5550fps."

That sure isn't backyard friendly. Although I bet that rifle would sellout at 5550fps ;)

haha! thanks!

I love my Leshiy for the backyard sniper work but I'm still struggling with optics. I went full size scope and that was ok from a bench but not off hand, now I have a dot sight on it and that just hasn't been working for precision work even with a small MOA dot. I will keep looking for the "Perfect" setup. I'm welcome to any suggestions as well.

I hear you on this. I shoot off a bipod, and the ATN X Sight 4K works pretty well. I've had no issues shooting offhand. I'll post something with me shooting a squirrel at 30 offhand with it. It's not an ideal scope yet for shooting a wide variety of ranges as it can take too much time to adjust. It's an amazing pest control scope though where you are shooting 30 yards and under.

I have the vortex red dot on the Veles pistol. I've thrown it on the Leshiy before, and it's lights out. Without magnification though, I found it to strain on my eye anything past 25 yards. I've lit matches with Veles and that red dot before at about 18 yards. There is no doubt a quality red dot is capable of VERY tight groups.

So where to go... there really is no middle ground as the AR scopes (which we're basically describing) are not ideal for airguns... airgun friendly reticles being the big issue... then in the context of the Leshiy... eye relief, so you don't have to mount the thing so far back.

Fast forward, and IMO... the perfect scope has arrived for the Leshiy. The EDgun Stalker. Here's a great review from Piotr Ma: https://www.edgunleshiy.com/blog/2018/8/9/edgun-stalker-6-the-game-changer/

Here's another overview and demo shooting pest birds at variable distances...

utg bug buster 6x32, great scope whit many features AO from 3 yards to infinite in a bargain price mildot iluminated reticle, great for offhand shooting, i shoot a 550fps .177 rifle and down pigeons from a electric wire at 36-48 yards offhand, your rifle have multiple times my rifle energy whit that you can kill squirrels at 60+ yards...the ballistic curve must be huge!!
