The square oil breather???

I'm running a Hatsan lighting compressor. Last night during a fill I hear a thud on the work top. It the square oil breather off the fill hole for the oil on top of the fill port.

I'll try and post a pic here after while. It broke right off at the threads.

I've contacted hatsan for a replacement, but here's the bad part. Went to a friends place and I was checking out his new alpha-carrette and he has the same breather.

Well, he did have until I touched it. No kidding, barely laid a finger on it and it broke in the same place. Now I need two replacements.

Any thoughts on where to get one or a comparable replacement???

Thanks

I have the hatsan lighting too. And only after 4 hours run time I hear and thump. I thought my compressor broke. I shut it off a d check and found the square breather broken by the threads. I'm guessing from all the vibrations, the big head shaking cause it to knock off. I replaced with my yong heng cylinder tube style breather and havent have a problem since..you can order them from aliexpress for like $5.

Thanks for the heads up. Now I’m going to look into that, I’ve got plans on adapting fittings and getting one of those small K&N breathers that folks put in their valve covers for extra crank case venting.

Ive actually thought about doing that for the air inlet filter also. I’ve scoured the web looking for a compressor filter that was reusable, either a K&N or an AFE, but none made would fit into the plastic filter housing.

I had an Alpha Carette and the same thing happened to mine. It's caused by the ultra cheap plastic used in the square plastic breather. I fixed mine by carefully unscrewing the threaded piece and using expoxy resin to glue the two jagged edges together. I didn't retighten more than necessary to seal the breather. It never happened again. There are round breather assemblies that can be purchased on Aliexpress for less than $5 shipped and it takes about 3 weeks to get it here. FYI, it's a 16mm diameter thread. A replacement from Joe B. is the same breather and will fail just as easily as all the square one's seem to.
