Lol ... i have done it for giggles shooting a > 12 fpe pistol in hunter PCP rifle at club matches.

Damn hard too being at 12X you can't range that well, while being at WFTF power without the shooting aids afforded.

as rules are currently written with 15" total barrel allowed, it is doable for a lot of folks tho w/o any silencing for most if moving to > 20 fpe

I'm game absolutely !!!

"Why not just bring your pistol to one of our regular ft events and shoot it there."

Better yet, start a pistol program at your local FT club!

For our club the SVFTC, there are 3 of us out of @ 35 or so active shooters who play Pistol FT at the state & national level. All 3 of us are multi state title winners in Open and Hunter class "Pistol" ( Riz M, Cameron K, Scott S )

NO ONE ELSE in the club wants to play with us !!! having been stated numerous times by those individuals who would or could be great PFT shooters.

Pistol is so hard to master too few are willing to take up the challenge. I'm sure our club is not alone in this struggle ?

Tough nut to Crack !!!

Pistol is so hard to master too few are willing to take up the challenge.

ive tried several times to start shooting PFT. bought a 1720, sticks and built a bucket seat/storage. AS noted, it is hard to master, and after a couple weeks of being nose-deep in the effort, realized I was neglecting the rifle.

IMO you cant get good at pistol without it impacting yer rifle skills, at least at first. So either need 29 hours in a day, or Ill revisit when I retire. :)

But.... if I was close enough to shoot with Scott, Riz, Cameron and Ron, I might try it.

The deadman sitting position works for both rifle and pistol. Master the pistol and the rifle will come easy enough. Practicing for one counts for the other.

In 2017, I put most of my effort into getting good at pistol FT. At the 2017 AAFTA Nationals, I shot my 12fpe/12x pistol in the Hunter PCP rifle class for fun, hoping to finish mid pack. My score was more comparable to a piston gun score. So I ended up near the bottom in the Hunter PCP rifle match. 10.3gr pellets at 12fpe, with a 12x scope is fine out to 35 yards, but for 55 yard FT, you'll benefit greatly from either a better ranging scope or a flatter trajectory. A 20fpe pistol might make it a little better.

I still occasionally shoot my 12fpe pistol in our monthly rifle matches.
