For many in the AAFTA Field Target world & especially those on the West coast knew Jim Cyran as the guy always willing to help out, have a conversation about the game he loved so much ... FIELD TARGET
Jim was my shooting partner over the last 10 years and was instrumental in the forming of the SVFTC. Jim traveled every year up and down the west coast, trips to national events threw out the country in the last 10+ years.
While not a frequent poster here 22JIM he was very well known by many on the AG forums.

Jim Had moved to OHIO last fall where he was born and raised to live out his days ( @ 74 iirc ) and had returned out west for one last Duck / Goose hunt with his buddies. Jim suffered a massive heart attack while doing what he loved ( Shooting ) with the Friends he loved ... What a Way to go !!

Jim was one of those guys that everyone liked. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help out. I met Jim at the 2020 CA State FT tournament where I shot with him as my partner on the first day. It was one of my first FT competitions and Jim took the time to help me out in any way he could. It goes without saying that Jim was also a great shot, and tough competitor. I also spent some time chatting with Jim at the Oregon EFT/EBR competition in May of 2021, we all had such a great time...

Jim was a true gentleman, and will be sorely missed...

The last time I saw Jim was in California and when we parted after a fun weekend, I took a selfie with him, and said goodbye and I would see him in Louisiana at the Cajun Classic in April. Jim said,. OK, Uncle Bill (never knew why he called me that, but it was Jim, so it must have been a good nickname), see you there. When I found out Jim had died, it was like a hole ripped in my chest. What a great guy, a wealth of information and great shooter. When I am at the Cajun shoot in a little over a month, I will remember Jim dearly. And miss him more. I will have a beer or so out at the range and share some Jim stories with the Cajun boys. RIP Brother. We miss you......BC
