The Mother of All PCP's

This morning starting about 10:00 the wife and I started hearing this BIG POOFFFF. The glass patio door would rattle. Went out side to investigate and the farm next to mine has a big pumpkin patch for kids to come choose their pumpkins and other activities. lots of cars and people. They brought in a couple of pumpkin canons mounted on 40ft semi flatbed trailers. They are set up 1/4 mile from the house. They were shooting 8 inch pumpkins over 1/2 mile. About 25+ ft 8 inch barrels with 500 gallon tanks pressured up to 125 psi. They were waisting lots of air and could have used a good LDC. Fun to watch. Some of the pumpkins would go straight and others would get to spinning and curve like a fastball. Maybe a new event for EBR. Sylvan

I did not Matt. Never figured out how to post pictures. There is a video of a pumpkin chunking contest they hold every year out east somewhere. Different categories for different cannons. Looks like an absolute blast. Bunch of crazy people doing crazy stuff having a great time. Only drawback I saw was while reading the rules to enter the state or one of our fine government agencies decided they needed to get involved and certify the tanks or pressure vessels. Justify their existence. Whole sport evolved around launching pumpkins close to a mile and they have their own verbiage. When the only thing that comes out of the cannon is an orange mist instead of a pumpkin, they call it pie-ing one. My kind of people. Sylvan

Couldn't resist ;-)
