The low down 177 Caliber

Found this. 177 compact..a few years ago like most of us almost make the error to sell it .really happy that I keep it awesome little gun .. look at the balance of the gun just in the center great for some of hand shoots .. liked so much that I managed to find the parts to change my .22 to compact..

The .177 is my go to caliber, flexibility, vast array of designs and weights. I've got .22 and .25 but the .177 is my go to caliber. My ultimate .177 is a modded Hubek K1 to .177. It's very flexible from a modest barn safe 400fps to a fire breathing monster. I've yet to establish the upper limits of it's capability. It'll sling a JBS 16.2gr super sonic with the reg set at 100bar with 21 clicks on the power adjustment wheel.

Now that is on my wishlist 👍🙂 Would love a Huben .177 and shoot slugs at long distance 🎯

Did you modify the Huben yourself ??? I know that I heard of someone in the US making a few of these and I also reached out to Huben 👍

Thanks Mike Hunt

Strange the 177 kit is 20 inch barrel, My Prophet 25 has a 24 inch barrel,

I went ahead and ordered it and ask them to make sure it is the right barrel...

The Compact is 16 inch barrel, So I am pretty sure I got the right one....

Mike

I get confused going back and forth between English and metric dims.

Hope it works out great for you. It's tempting to get a .177 barrel for RTI compact... the shot count could be REALLY high.

I shoot .177 exclusively. Both my PCP's and my Benji pumper are .177 and do everything I need them to do. If/when I need more, I can always go bigger. But for the last 45 years, .177 has worked just fine for my uses and has never left me wanting. I am not a big game hunter, nor am I a long range shooter. I punch paper and rodent timecards out to 50 yards or so.

All that said, my last purchase of an FX Dreamline Tactical was largely driven by the ability to change calibers. But I am finding that it is so stupid accurate it actually extends my confidence range from 35-40 yards out to 50 or 55 yards, making .177 even more useful to me and less likely to be replaced by something larger. But this is just me and my use case. Shoot whatever you shoot and have fun.

Some of us that like to shoot a lot and have restrictions in the back yard will or may choose 177 as not to advance their pellets into areas that don't need advancing.

That is why all my guns are 177. The wind is not a friend of these pellets, but it sure do teach you how to adjust for it.

They are generally more budget friendly and still readily available.

Shooting a 12fpe .177 springer at 55yds can make you question your sanity. But on days when the wind is low, the light is good, my head is right and those tiny pills magically sail into tight groups or thru the kill zone I’m one happy old fart. Those days don’t come along very often but often enough for me to walk past some very nice pcps and grab my .177 springer. Uj

I have been wanting to get an Impact in .177 for a while. Missed a deal on one a while back. Really wanting it for my son so not wanting to pay full price, the one I missed was listed at $1,000. A high capacity magazine that opens for easy loading is a very nice feature in my opinion ( the opening feature is the nicer part). Stud mag loaders are amazing ( I think they only make them for FX guns at the moment) because you don’t really have to handle the pellets one at a time when using them. I can only imagine the shot count if you put a 700cc bottle on a .177!!!

Talk about shot count in the 177, My uragan standard with the 500 cc bottle gets about 450 or more shots per .fill. I have never really emptied the tank so I am guessing at the shot count. I have five magazines , Its a pain in the but-t loading them all but I get to shoot a lot,,, I have three Magazines for my Vulcan in 177 , Uragan / Vulcan same magazine so total eight magazines...

Looking at all the post I do not think the 177 is a dyeing caliber,,,

I think the Dealers are missing out on sales, I have talked to three big Dealers here and all say the 177 Caliber guns do not sale,,,Sure seem to be a lot of them on this site?

Mike

douger Your going to love the little Prophet, How many guns you got?

I am shooting my 10.34 gr pellets out of my Uragan at 960 FPS , Thats out of the box I have not done any tuning to it, I tried shooting heaver 177 pellets , But I backed off and said I got a 22 to shoot the heavy pellets and have pretty well stuck with the 10 gr pellets..

On my 177 Vulcan I played with the smaller 8gr pellets , and the wad cutters made really great hunting pellets it you had NO wind, 30 yards max..

Mike

Almost all my guns are .177. My one .22 (Diana Bandit) was bought on a whim as I didn't want to wait for the .177 to get back in stock. I do regret the purchase as I just don't get the shot count like my .177s (My 1701 get 50 shots and when I turn the power way down on the Beeman 2027 I can get 100 shots out of a fill). My Hatsan AT44 gets me 40 shots and has eliminated more squirrels and Chipmunks than I can count. I just ordered another pistol just recently and went with the 1377 as I just don't like shooting .22 (mostly indoors in the winter). It is nothing for me to take 500 shots in a weekend and .177 just makes me smile.

Just bought the Prophet and will hopefully get it before Xmas here in South Africa. From Airgunheaven. Great service from Joost and Marina...

Anyway, intend on trying both the .177 cal barrels from Alfa Precision in the Prophet. Should make for some testing fun. Also getting a secret slug barrel from Russia with a 1:12 twist for heavy .177 slug pesting...

With a 9mm (0.3**"?) long, 17.5 grain slug the Leshiy 2 shoots 40+ fp/lb. That would be a long-range wind-bucking shooter if I can get it to the group. The .22 killer coming up...
