One squirrel showed up this morning and he choose the feeder with no arms. I'll keep an eye on things as more squirrels show up.

@mack-attack, that is an impressive set up for your "target stand." One thing that always seems to work, human or animal, if you have good food, they will come.

Another one bites the dust! Sorry guys, the feeder is working great I just haven't edited any of my videos from shooting. One thing I will note, squirrels do not like the side arms I built onto it. I think it makes them feel "trapped" my V2.0 model will just have an extended back plate with thick wood.

I kinda like this contraption! Maybe add a distinctly clever logo or graphic and you might have something catchy. Saw this and had a laugh when I thought about a similar graphic affixed to it.
Maybe something like a varmint strapped to a lethal injection table forced to stare at a meal it will never eat again.

Well, here it goes, what everyone has been waiting for. I have two quick videos that show it in action. It seems to take shots really well. I am curious though, do you guys feel that it is safer with wings or without. I mean I could just make the back board alot longer. I am using thick wood that sometimes the pellets wont completely lodge themselves into. I think I will start listing a few of these for sale in the member classified section of the form. The footage was shot with an ATN X-Sight 4k 3-14x. The air gun being used is a Edgun Lelya 2.0 in .25 cal.

Just posted the sale for the V2.0 model, squirrels did not like the wings, they constantly choose the feeder with no wings, probably made them feel enclosed and trapped. Just made the back drop longer and reinforced with steel in the right place. Could add a package to add more steel however just be aware it will make the unit even heavier and will require more screws to keep it housed up in the tree. Let me know your thoughts.

Maybe it’s just me but the few times I hit my metal fence I got ricochet couple of times, I think just plain thick wood back stop would be better since it would just absorb the pellet. In a small yard like mine I think that’s critical, I would not want metal backstop because of the ricochet risk and impact noise. From my personal experience I like the soft redwood because the impact noise is a lot lower than the harder commercial pine board, I use cheap 4x4 rough redwood planks I had laying around and they work great.

I went simple. 1/4 hardened steel plate screwed into a center board (about 8.5x11). The other side of the centerpiece is replaceable wood for target shooting (no pellet splatter like steel)
A few unshelled peanuts in front of the plate and away ya go.

You bring up a good point, and I could customize the feeder per customer request. I think its very dependant upon caliber and speed at which the pellets are flying. If they are going a little slower you may see some of that ricochet. I'm shooting jsb .25 cal hades 26 grain at about 870 fps at about 15 yards. It just smashed against the metal and I either pluck it out or it falls down as 1 chuck of lead.
I also offer a rubber pad that can go over the metal to help eliminate some of the ricochet as well.

When I set up my feeder, I bore approx a 3 inch hole that I could drop a plastic cup into. The base that the cup sat in what was kind of triangular base with the cup as close to the back of the triangle and the back stop (which has duct seal on it to catch pass throughs).
The reason for the recessed cup near the back stop/bottom of the triangle is so the squirrel to dip down into the cup with his back to me. Being preoccupied and with his back to me, rear head shots were very easy because... he wasn't facing me.
