The "Joker" instrument for measuring

Has anyone seen this?

I had a customer in India ask me about this a couple of months ago. A company called Lottes Sport+Technik sells a device designed to measure the concentricity of the calyx of the pellet. For those of us with poor Words with Friends ratings, the "calyx" is the cup-like recess in the back of the pellet.

It does seem to me that if the punch which pushes the slug into the swage die is not well centered, the result is that the pellet might not have weight concentricity. This may well effect rotational inertia, and stability. Think of it as a top whose axis is off the spinner tip, it will wobble much more quickly and severely.

Looks like a concentricity gage ,, a very high precision measureing tool and depending how finely calibrated, those things can get pricey.Depending on whose brand dial indicater "Starret,Mititoya,Browning, gage is on it. I was wondering about the jig to hold the pellet then I watched the video, duh,I never read the directions 1st either lol,,Looks simple enuff,I like it. I don't think or I could'nt tell if can be had for different calibers. Looks like it's very targeted to olympic type competition sport which is ,far as I know, strictly 17 caliber.I guestimate about $200. whatever 170C is.euros?

he tested: Coal, Crosman, H&N, JSB, RWS, Qiang Yuan

with a walther LG400 with a special shooting rest but i dont know the energy level. could be only 7,5J because its a german forum.

nice groups with these sorted pellets. thats a huge difference!!

he claims: if you got a pellet with such a bad shape usually all pellets from that die are bad

i think we all had spirally flying pellets. next time i will take a closer look to these pellets. maybe something similar is visible with the naked eye. im not sure if a gauge is needed to see that ? in some pictures of him its really obvious!!

I bought something like that years ago that Ted used to win EBR with. That's the specific reason I bought mine after the maker stated HOW DO YOU THINK TED WON?.

I also have the Dan Brown Air Gauge purchased many years prior to that.

It's a lot quicker to make your own swaged match grade pellets and slugs that don't require all this measuring stuff since they shoot perfect freshly swaged no measuring nor weighing no sorting necessary always perfect and not at the mercy you pray for that good lucky lot# lottery.
