The Huben .25 files (sorting it all out)

I shot 8 MP slugs today and the group at 40 yards was embarrassing...6 inches. 5 to 1 Lead/lyno mix and 46.8 grains weight. 200 bar. Slugs were undersized from the desired 6.45 mm. Came out of the MP mould at 6.39 mm. Soft lead should improve the diameter. Got some work to do to get slugs to "go". The barrel is choked and that is not the best for slugs. I did hit my roofing tin sheet at 230 yards with a slug and it pierced it..the power is there :)
Turned the bar down to 130 and shot a decent group at 40 yards off a front sandbag. Washed, unsorted 25.39 JSB's.
I'm sure the JSB 33.95 pellets will do even better....but I ran out of them :(
Got a tin of H&N Grizzly slugs. I will wash them and see what they do in the future.
One thing to watch is the regulator gauge. It (so far) does not restore pressure instantly. I count to 8 as I watch the gage creep back up to 130 bar. Seems to be very consistent with that creeping back up to 130 bar. Accuracy improved greatly by doing this. I can dump the whole mag as fast as I pull the trigger, but the first shot only will have full bar. It does not creep overnight and the rifle has operated flawlessly with no glitches. Loading is slow but tipping the pellet head into the mag and then depressing the stop and pushing the pellet in leaves no shavings. The pellets then must be seated all the way forward with a pin or punch. You will feel it click into place.
I have contacted Huben a couple of times and they are responding very quickly :) :)
<< We are improving K1 all the time, but we don't name the generation for it, dealers named it according to the lot of goods they received; as per your series number, your K1 should be the newest product, pls kindly note! Thanks! >>
They are interested in my results of testing and usage of the rifle. :)

Shooting under my deck, the rifle has a weird sound...like bouncing a flat basket ball. I covered the mag area of the gun and the muzzle vents with a towel and it did not change the sound...regardless the the biggest noise comes from target impact. It has a Donny FL Suma attached. Seems to be nice and quit out in the open. My other PCP's do not make this "thump" noise under the deck...weird.

Setting the regulator bar is quick and easy with the supplied hex wrench and it does not have to be degassed to go up or down with the bar setting. The power wheel adjustment is "clicks" and there are over a couple dozen clicks. Seems to be repeatable but I have not messed with it much because my Labradar poop the bed for some odd reason. Ghost shots, no shots recorded and menu glitches... DAMMIT! It had been working just fine till a few days ago. Factory default reset and fresh batteries...no change :( :(

25.39 JSB. The black outline is 1" on the inside.

I will probably post future results in this thread :)

Very good report I commend you on. Green ball for truthfulness & complete review. I don’t give red balls.

I’ve wanted a Huben but fast realized they’re in the Beta testing stage. I don’t have money to throw around on imperfect $800+ air guns. I don’t mind $1875-$4000 if RIGHT. Huben isn’t right yet & since I have no machine shop that means sending to gunsmith friend or tuner. Postage, chance of damage in transit. Friend needs to bed my Supermagnum stock with Devcon 10110 & a few other things. I’m lucky he only charges me $15 per hour against his normal $40. Huben though just released schematics in depth exploded view but without a reg tester my friend is limited to what a firearm benefits from & his own experience in spring guns & Crosman PCP’s. So sometimes I have to bite the pellet & send to an expert on particular rifle.

Hubens creep makes its fast shooting semi auto a mute point. I’ve read poppet seal needs a better mating surface to surface. The specialty .223 mold. Awesome BC but getting them exactly right is an art in itself & I personally would have problems casting more than 2-3 at a time without a good heat plate or torches rigged to keep mold at temp I need to consistently.

I’ve seen some amazing accuracy from Huben. I personally wish they’d make a all around better single shot or sidelever/bolt action ambidextrous. I’m finding I don’t like bull pups much at all but I only have a EDgun .25 R5M Supermagnum to go by in judgement. It’s a HECK of a shooter. Not pellet fussy at all but as a lefty that bolt in my shoulder can be unlocked & doesn’t allow me to hold as I wish. A trip to friends machine shop. Lefty bolt & rock solid bedding job, install high quality rail for an Atlas or Harris variant & voila. Huben, I wouldn’t even know what to say it needs but I darn sure appreciate reviewers like you letting me know to wait & watch.

When she’s perfect let’s you & I do a postal match. I can film mine but honest distance & info is all that’s required. I’ll probably regret my single shot bolt action if you smear me in a shoot off. I picked this particular rifle as I thought it had a 28” special LW barrel. It is a special run barrel but only 24”. Only the .30 Supermagnum & .25 Super Long have 28” barrels. Mines just a .25 barrel on a .30 platform but with reg at 112 bar & hammer spring turned down to ease cocking I can now shoot 20 grain FTT to 31.9 RBT RS slugs to 34.95 JSB all with exceptional accuracy out to 190 yards. Minus the FTT’s. Those I keep to 75 yards. Here’s a tip you might find useful as I know I’m getting 5 for the price of 1.

US $28.95 | Velocity velocimetry Muzzle velocity anemometer civilian gun BB Chronograph price super e9800 X3200 high-pressure muffler

If you don’t know about that site it’s a must check out. The infrared chronograph does away with any lighting issues. This particular one is in meters per second only but convert or buy other similarly priced. I was mad at self for shooting a $140 chrony. Never again. I could line 5 up. 12” from muzzle, 25, 50, 75, 100. Not saying I will but at that price I could. Oh and they come with adjustable tripod so you could easily set them along your trajectory path centered for safety of chronograph.

I loved your review & you’ve helped to sell a Huben .22 but only when they’re released as perfected. I’ve recently talked with some people & many say air guns ARE going the way of electronics. I like that option but I personally wish to see more innovations like Huben has without solenoids, electronic gauge or trigger. Optics for that matter. Fellow asked about a Revic scope. Best reply was how bout you learn your trajectory & how to shoot. That Huben is going to be a shooter for sure.

I am very interested in a Huben .22 so I have been reading and talking to a lot of people. What I have read it takes 500 shots for the Huben to break in. How many shots have you shot? Also I was told that the .22's are more accurate than the .25's. I personally don't have experience to prove that. But, that is what I was told. And this is a Hunting rifle platform not a paper puncher. Just thinking out loud.

OH crap...disregard my cast slug diameters(6.45) in the first post. I don't know how I got that so wrong. I will remeasure and post back. A lot of my slugs had a lot of flashing on the base and those were rejected. About half of them came out of the 8 cavity mould as usable...but it's been a long time since I have cast bullets and I have never cast anything this small. Gotta relearn casting! I had a lot of wrinkled slugs too if I didn't keep the mould warm enuf. I did find that some slugs stopped rotation of the magazine when loading as they slipped into the barrel when they rotated to that position. Simply (per the user guide) point the muzzle up and the magazine will rotate to finish loading it. I had a a couple JSB pellets also jam.... and again, raise the muzzle, wiggle the magazine and continue loading. Kinda like the Impact magazine when the first loaded pellet goes in to far. The Huben never jammed the magazine rotation in firing loose slugs and I had a lot of loose fitting slugs....some of them key holeing at slower velocities. The Huben has a LW barrel and per Gregor K., Rojal makes replacement barrels. I have a lot of work to do before I give up on slugs
I should receive my JSB pellet order in a few days and playing will resume with the heavier pellets if the weather cooperates...it's been totally miserable here with wind and rain and 8 more days of it coming. Planting fields is WAY behind schedule.
This Huben is defiantly not a rifle for a first time PCP buyer/user....but I am getting along with it perfectly fine. I don't like the fact that it can't be de cocked . I always leave all my PCP's on an empty camber and de cocked and then ready to fire by simply cocking it.

My experience with the .25 is almost totally opposite yours. Mine likes every thing I feed it (from pellets to cast bullets to Varmint Knockers) and with JSB 34 grain pellets I can take grackles at 100 yards with regularity. Mine has a fast regulator cycle time. As quick as I can pull the trigger. Off hand at 50 yards I can double tap the trigger and place 2 pellets touching much of the time on a painted steel plate.

My MP slugs at 5:1 lead/lyno came out of the mould at 6.31 to 6.33 mm and averaged 46.6 grains. I will try 10:1 mix and pure lead and see how they come out....someday.
The flat base Varmint Knockers showed promise, regardless that they are loose in the magazine. Ran out of them :(
The H&N grizzly pellets are also loose in the magazine and grouped poorly. They have a nice concave base and a smaller hollow point than the Varmint Knockers.

Since my Ladradar went goofy, not much to experiment with, with any meaning/settings. Never mind the the King heavy pellet showed the best promise and the new order was held up to be sent when the back order is filled of another pellet size :( The rifle is still 'new' with less than 500 shots. I may just do some plinking with the slugs just to get it settled in on the mechanisms.

What is shown in your video is very slow compared to mine. I am set to 150 bar. I see it creep up to 175 over seconds. First shot drops it to 150 (setpoint) then subsequent rapid shots drop to 145 and it recovers to 150 almost instantly. It seems to be getting better with not creeping over time which I see as normal for breaking in a regulator. I do not target shoot. mine is a hunter so I am possibly easier to please because my measure of satisfaction is animal DRT at what ever range I am shooting at in whatever weather conditions are at that time.

IMHO One must consider this regulator as having 2 setpoints. One is standing pressure and one is working pressure. Adjustments should be made using working pressure that will be about 25 bar below standing pressure that we are accustomed to working with on standard non semi auto PCP's . Adjusting for WP will minimize recovery time to working pressure between shots.

It's all good, but the Huben locked up on me. Was trying different pellets and speeds and wasn't having satisfactory results. Regulator was really slow to react. Decided to shoot some slugs for more break in time..... and the first shot blew a butt load of air out the magazine. Mag was now stuck,so figured....pull the trigger again and clear it. That dumped ALL the air. Still locked up. Tore it apart and found that apparently it fell off the regulator and didn't have enuf air pressure to rotate the magazine all the way to the barrel index. It had a slug stuck because it was only 3/4ths of the way aligned with the barrel. Put it all back together and it works perfectly again. Evidently the blast of air and dumping the complete bottle blew something out of the regulator. The regulator is now refreshing right away at 150 bar. Accuracy was still not what I wanted. Accidentally found that there are three diameter steps in the mag and I was only seating the pellets into the second step with a slight push on the back of the pellet with my seating pin. Seemed OK to me....but pushing even harder the pellet went into the third step and was very snug. Another trick is to set the pellet in the mag at an angle and then let it drop in place by pushing the tab in...no more sheared pellet skirt pieces. Time to move out to 50 and 100 yards as it hardly get no better at 40 yards now :)

Yes....but I'm a challenge accepting type of guy. I wouldn't recommend it to the newcomers or people that don't understand these type of things. I have not got it sorted out for slugs. Still working with that and it may require a different barrel.Trying to keep it subsonic. I also have a FX Revolution semi Auto that was running great until just a couple days ago. It is now sending off two shot bursts with one touch of the trigger. So fast I only hear one "pop". Pretty sure the sear spring got weak or something in that mechanism as the second pellet doesn't completely cycle the action and I suppose it is just too fast to refill with air and has a weak/short cycle after the sear doesn't catch on the first shot..
