The gauntlet or Gamo Urban

I’m new to this pcp sport I want durability and accuracy 50 yards max I currently own gamo varmint and just ordered gamo swarm fusion Gen 2 ! I’m hoping the Accuracy has moved up a little with the gamo swam fusion and then move on to my first pcp ! Under 400 !

The gauntlet Or the gamo urban or something else that I didn’t know about? Thanks !

Read the reviews of both and it will help. Also, keep in mind that Umarex is an importer - not a manufacturer. Mostly Chinese. Gamo is one of the largest manufacturers in the world, and have been for many years. They own BSA, Daisy and, I think, some other brands. They have a proprietary interest in the quality of their product, which is, generally pretty good for the price point.

I had a gen 1 (in .22) that was very accurate with JSB heavies, and accurate with H&N FTT gold (the exact ones from Steve's AEAC review on UT, saved me a lot of work finding that out myself back then. (Thank you for that Steve!)).

But I sold it and now I have a gen 2 with which unfortunately the JSB's perform like sh#t. But the H&N's are fairly accurate. It seems the gen 2 is much much more hold sensitive than the gen 1... After experimenting with all kinds of holds I found the best way to hold it for me is to keep the thumb up on the same side as the hand holding the grip (with the fingers extending to the other side of the grip), and grip it fairly tight, not like an artillery hold. (then it is all over the place...)

My son has a Gamo Coyote, and I have a BSA Scorpion SE, which are both more or less the same guns as the Urban, as they are all built by BSA on the same action and their world famous in house produced coldforged barrel) While unregulated, they both perform crazy accurate with the JSB heavies!

As for the BSA (Gamo) magazines, they are among the very best in the industry; for their simplicity (no pellet bacwards preloading and rotating a clear window against a spring or anything) and fail rate (like 0 pct.) They are expensive in the US, but have you tried to order them on Spanish airgun websites? Much cheaper there! (but do not know the cost of shipping to the US they charge)

Ati liberty. Mrod air air max dominator or the solid and easily upgraded benjamin marauder. These I feel are a step up from the gauntlet or the urban. The urban is a decent shooter right out of the box but it seems underpowered for what you're looking for. The gauntlet is long but has a decent shot count. The thing about pcp guns is that you will buy more. It's a curse that comes with them. Good luck whatever you choose.

So many mixed reviews! Can the urban be modified? Like a regulator , anything else to make it a great gun but with that being said with all or any upgrades why just buy something that has it all for under 400 dollars if there is anything?? Thanks guys for your input still Undecided! I’ll take any help from anyone! Like I said I’m new and don’t want to spend anymore money then I have to ! I just want to be done so I can enjoy a good gun that I know I can trust for a kill shot up to 50 yards! My gamo swarm fusion gen.2 will be here this Friday I’ll shoot that all weekend since my daughter has no softball tournament! I’ll make a decision and post results on here to see what y’all think, comparing what y’all think and what I think and we will go from there! Thanks again guys please keep the suggestion coming in on what is a great pcp gun under 400 dollars!! Until then safe shooting!!

I had a Gamo Urban for a few months. Solid little gun. I liked it. Got a friend with a Gamo Coyte and it's quite solid to.

My Urban came shooting 24-25 fpe. Glenn's Coyote closer 30 fpe.

Both extremely accurate for the price point.

Haven't had a Gauntlet, but they seem to be a great deal as well. Plus you can get all the Hajimoto upgrades to make it a better gun later if you wish.

Someone mentioned the Hawk from JSAR. I think that would be the best of the bunch for entry level at the moment.

Good luck with your choice. You can't go wrong with either.

I own a Gauntlet, actually it is my fourth one as the others were returned under warranty and replaced. I will not return the gun to Umarex again but fix it myself as the shipping cost on these heavy and long guns have cost me over a $100. The rifle is very accurate with a high a shot count and can be modified to increase performance at additional cost. If I had a do over I would purchase a Benjamin Maurader and would now consider the Hawk from JSAR as previously mentioned.

I've got the Liberty and you can get one for around $260 I think with the hardair-20 coupon. That's for the synthetic version which is what I have. It already has a regulator, a fill to 4350 psi with a 191cc air tank, Stephen of air velocity sport on yt is shooting slugs at less than a inch at 100 yards. Stock they get between 60 and 70 shots. The biggest problem is the poppet, it will end up leaking after maybe 5000 shots due to the soft sealing material Nova uses inside of a metal can. Simple fix. Just get one made with delrin.

Gamo Urban Yes you can I have a Alteros Reg in mine... However if you are looking for everything in rather look at the Nova Liberty, side lever, regulated accurate and light, can get one for around 299 if you use the hard air magazine discount code...

I've had a couple of Gauntlets, bought from members here. Both had issues described fully by one member, other not so. With the help of Hajimoto vids I was able to get them working. In his skilled hands he is able to turn most guns into precision shooting gems. (long distance eggs Marauder, aspirins with a Gauntlet) After playing with both Marauders, and Gauntlets, I'd opt for a Marauder. If awesome power is your goal, look at SothernGunner vids with bottle mods on the Gauntlet.

If I had to choose between those two, I would go with the Gamo Urban. Reason: that Gauntlet Just looks fugly & big to me. The Urban is smaller & nimble, plus the barrel is actually a BSA product. Well respected for build quality & accuracy.

I did own the Urban, but returned it because it came all jacked up from seller (Wal Mart) Have only held the Gauntlet in hand.
