"The Fifth Shot", Always The Fifth Shot!!!

I was "bench" testing my Taipan .22 standard this morning at more than 25 yards for a change, 45.6 yards to be exact, just to see how it would do, conditions were calm and cooler at last! I shot CP Domes first four 5 shot groups no surprise two pretty good two not so good but all under an inch than changed pellets to JSB 18's and gave the HSA one full turn in and shot two 5 shot groups at something under a half inch each, for the third JSB group (#7) I gave the HSA 1/4 turn more in,

just to see if there was any improvement, first four shots were right at 1/4" cc...than on the "fifth" shot the gun decided to fall off the reg.....over the years, DECADES, things that have happen to mess up great groups, most of the time it's because of me "choking" but not always, I remember one time I had a "one hole" group going with four shots at 100 yards with another gun, I was squeezing the trigger for #5...and my target fell down!!! Went and set it back up and did take the "fifth" shot"...1/2" inch to the right...someday I'm going to write a book titled "The Fifth Shot"!

got these JSB 18's from AOA, and there're performing very well, I have the Taipan shooting CP domes around 820 so the 18's were shooting around 775fps, very smooth quiet shot cycle, these 5 shots were my first of the session...with my favorite airgun!
