DAYSTATE REPORT

So just shot my Huntsman Regal XL HR over the chronograph....250bar fill...50 shots...avg 894fps ..extreme spread of 13fps with a shot deviance of 2fps...this is with JSB 16GRN pellets....very nice!

Been thinking about getting this gun. I had been almost sold on the FX Streamline but the many reports of leaks has turned me off. I've seen a few reports of stiff bolts on the Regal XL. Have you had any issues with that? It's a beautiful looking gun and gets very good reviews other than the stiff bolt problem.

I can agree with the stiff bolt remark...I think it's a bolt you just have to get use to. There is times when I pull back on the bolt and it doesn't cock and I have to get it an extra tug to cock it. To me it really doesn't take away from the gun though. I always single load mine with the shot tray so it's not really a problem. I think ideally if it was a side lever it would be just about perfect. Are you listening Daystate?? All in all it is a very well made good shooting carbine as is though.

Daystate has tested both CDT and GCU guns for EMP as it is part of our certification process Both survived the highest level of EMP that the lab could subject it to I remember that it wiped the lcd screen for a few seconds and then recovered.

Is wonky electronics a technical term? Electronic systems are increadable reliable, much more that pure mechanical systems, how long did analogue watches last without maintanace, ditto to cars modern electrical systems will last g or years and when they need repairing in the future there will be more electrical engineers than gun smiths!

All the best

The regulated version is easier to cock

Those of you who have been following the thread of the gentlemen in Pakistan with the poorly Pulsar, will be happy to hear that Simon from our technical department has been able to help and it turned out to be a sticking bolt activator - so the rod that is pushed down when you open the side lever needed a bit of lube.

The gun is working and the owner is happy, though not happy enough to come on here and tell us! 😂

So it was the mechanical and not the electronics. Very interesting.

Mine is the regulated version.

Thanks Tony,

I take care of many of the users of PCP in Pakistan.

This is my hobby. I have some reasonable research and practical experience of fixing pcp guns.

Yes that plunger was sticking and a bit of lube did the trick.

Thank you for that. But at the same time the owner faced another problem when he tried to unscrew the tiny counter head screw on the other side.

I feel that my hobby makes some manufacturers happy and the others a bit unhappy.

I would have to find out why this screw broke and how the rest of part stuck in the threads can be removed to install a new screw.

Zulfiqar is happy that his gun has started working but I am a bit perfectionist.

Any further advise in this respect through e mail will be great.

I have just fixed an FX Impact. Just mentioned in the Daystate post as if I am not mistaken, Fredrick is also in your title photo with you.

He has helped out me many times and his son Johan is also a very cooperative person.

Tony:

I'm happy with my new HP Pulsar .25! I've returned to the wonderful world of electronic actions! I used to own the standard Pulsar .25 back in the day and switched to the dark side of mechanical actions (jk) for more power. I'm now back in the fold since Daystate dropped the HP line :). (Never say "drop" around an AG enthusiast!)

I do have a question, though. Is it harmful to leave the Pulsar "cocked" for extended periods of time? (Aside from the safety issue.)

I have the non-regulated Regal XL in .22cal. I bought it new from AOA in January 2017. The bolt is smooth throughout the cycling action. It's just the last end of the cycling action to cock the hammer that's a little stiff. Mine got easier after a tin of 500 shot through it and I don't think about it. I love this rifle. It hits what I'm aiming at. I can leave it stored for over a week without shooting it and when I need to shoot a pigeon or dove at 70 yards, it does its job with one shot.

Hi All,

I'm the one with the pulsar with the stuck plunger which was causing the gun to not function.

I'm very new to pcp rifles and don't know much but am trying to learn. I want to be able to take care of the rifles I have myself as there are no service centres or knowledgeable importers of either FX or Daystate.

When this problem came up I had no where to go and didn't know what to do. I asked Mr. Umair, who, for us, is the goto guy in Karachi for pcp problems. He is incidentally also trying to fix my FX Impact, whose regulator I messed up. He advised me to write to Daystate directly for help.

I was sceptical at first and didn't think the company would respond or help someone who isn't from the general market. But then I got an immediate response from the company and Mr. Simon guided me step by step to resolve the issue. He even went the extra mile and made a short video which eventually led to the solution.

Mr. Tony complained that I wasn't courteous enough to get on the forum and acknowledge the resolution and help from Daystate but I wasn't in the discussion and wasn't following this thread. I was just updating Mr. Umair of what was going on. I did, ofcourse, thank Mr. Simon profusely directly via email 😊

The Pulsar is a great rifle, the best I have in my small stable. So much so infact that I have a Redwolf .25 on order and should have it soon.

The problem with us is that we don't have any help when it cones to malfunctions. There are hardly any electronic rifles here, atleast I think I'm the only one who owns a Pulsar in Pakistan.

I'm also a very content owner of a Daystate Saxon (#127).

It is through the help and guidance of knowledgeable people that we, in these neck of the woods, would be able to maintain and enjoy our pcp rifles.

I still need help with the screw, or what remains of it, in the block that contains the plunger.

I apologise if I caused any friction between Mr Umair and Mr Tony as it seems from their posts. We should be here to help out each other and not be pointing fingers.

I do have a question, though. Is it harmful to leave the Pulsar "cocked" for extended periods of time? (Aside from the safety issue.)

The pulsar is never cocked, the hammer is at rest rearward sprung and is pulled forward by a magnetic field when you fire. So yes as long as there is a charged battery the gun can be left loaded indefinitely.

The electronics do power down after 5 minutes, but activating the safety or cocking lever wakes it all up. That's on the pulsar On the red wolf you need to leave the safety in the safe position or you end up cocking the rifle twice to activate it. We are trying to think of a way to get around this as not everyone uses safetys, but its a good practise to do so and on red wolf this is backed up by a technical reason to do so.

Tony,

Is there a common problem with the RedWolf .22 HP blowing the breech o'ring? Mine is eating them like pringles. I get about 300-400 shots and it blows. If I shoot the 34 grain pellets on HI, I only get maybe 100 shots before it pops. I switched to nitrile and it did the same thing. So now I'm on Viton to see if it helps. Is it possible there is something wrong about the o'ring grove or maybe the probe?

I've got to get this fixed. I'm shooting this gun at EBR this year and I can't have it blow up during the match.
