Daystate THE DAYSTATE PROGRAMMER-LET'S TALK ABOUT (PROPERLY) PROGRAMMING THE REDWOLF

You're doing GREAT ! Not sure what I could really add to that. I did remote the cable through the battery compartment so I could tune and test in the stock... but....

after trying the Heliboard, I enjoyed the combination of features and programming ease enough to equip all 3 of ours and have been running them that way for a while.

I know you like the GCU2 better and I still get called on to tinker with someone's factory board occasionally. I do really like your methodical presentation.

Bob

Do you have any pics of how your routed the cable Bob? I would like to try that.

The GCU1 didn't have any of the features of the Heliboard, but the GCU2 has caught up somewhat, can I ask how many of the 12 curves you actually use?

Great write up Mark, thank you for sharing your knowledge on the proper way to program. I was able to use your method and flatten my shot string with only taking a few shots at each of my pressure points. No doubt with a little tickling of the numbers I will be in single digit ES over 45 shots...

Dave

Hi Dave, yes great news, hopefully you can get the power up!

I use ALL of the power levels at some point. As mentioned earlier, I have 177, 22, 25, and 30 barrels for it. It came as a 22 but I used it as the primary for testing the ART barrels. It is SO nice to be able to go up a power level or a voltage change to make coarse or fine adjustments in velocity... plus having some presets for different barrels. I don't have a pic, but I'll see what I can do. The battery can be in or out but I route the cable carefully along the board assembly and out the battery compartment and the battery compartment door will have to stay open. I've considered a permanent cable so I could just open the battery door and plug it in... just never did it.... Heliboard instead.

I also drilled and tapped the safety to the next larger screw size and replaced the flat spring on the earlier ones with an oring for safty block tension. 80 ft lb seems to be just cruising now in 30 cal.

I used Marks method tuning my .177 Red Wolf at 12fpe over the weekend, over 45

shots I was able to get under 10fps spread and 2.5sd on the string without spending much time or pellets.

Now on to my .22hp Red Wolf. I was having issues reaching 970 at 202bar with 25.39 gr pellets, the best I was getting was 910fps at 202b. Mark gave me a few pointers to increase air flow. I replaced my seals and valve core as mine was showing wear in the stem area. With the changes I can now achieve 970fps at 175 bar. On to tuning it up this weekend. More to follow in a few days......

.22hp Red Wolf 480cc bottle shooting 25gr redesigned tuning for today.

Today I tuned up my 22hp to 970fps using Mark's tutorial. I was able to gather my PL settings in about 15 shots. I took the numbers and programmed them in, filled the bottle to 251 bar and started shooting. I was able to get 47 shots off the fill, with a 12fps spread over the string. Very happy with efficiency and spread for the first tune, going to tickle the numbers a bit more and should be in the single digits. The adjustable fill regulator will make it much easier once it shows up. I get the 970fps from 250 to 175 bar.

Thanks again Mark 👍🍺

Mark very kindly did mine , was it five mins … HELL NO !!! Was it worth it … OMG Yes. My .22 Red Wolf is amazing now and works a treat . The consistency of the shot to shot is off the charts now . It certainly was not before . We upped the power a bit and now I get 970 fps with the Monsters constantly for 30 shots . It’s changed the gun no end . As said the power has gone up so that makes me able to shoot the 30 Wildman slugs so so much better . It’s bang on and worth the time for Shizall . The gun was good before , now it’s even better . It’s made a whole bunch of difference.

Mark is doing mine too, just via whats app....long distance tuning...👍🎯

LOL! only too glad to help Dave!

I must admit I expected more response form this thread than we have got, did I put it in the wrong section or is it just boring LOL!

Well I don't find it boring, very useful information. Maybe everyone's Red Wolf's are dialed in. Maybe put it in pcp section ? I've directed a couple people to this post...maybe it is so well explained there are no questions ?

Excellent, they are a chunk of change I know but very well made and precise, it makes the job way easier as well to be honest, you will get lots of friends wanting to borrow it I expect.

Stangely due to your DOT (I think) regs on SCBA bottles the carbon ones seem to be way more expensive in the US than here in the UK, the reg complete costs about $490 here in the UK (including 20% tax), not sure what they cost in the USA?

DaveC107 is considering getting one, although he seemed to do very well without using the big reg

Best of luck and ask as many questions as you can think of, no matter how stupid they seem, I am sure they won't be to me.
