Went out shooting with a new round with my Daystate Air Ranger 80

and was shooting the varmintknockers 25 cal 40 grain large hollow point

swaged ammo . here is a group at 85 yards with the Air Ranger 80 at 960 fps

Here is the gun that was used

I will make a post in the hunting section look for Air Ranger 80 , you will see some major damage

that was caused by the varmintknocker 25 cal 40 grain large hollow points , warning it is gruesome

and very amazing at the same time .

To answer your question BeemanR7 this barrel is the one that came with this gun

from Daystate and yes it is choked . This gun is a factory gun with no modifications

its just very happy with this 40 grain slug . I did shoot a 1.5" group at 150 yards a few

weeks ago with it , most of my airguns are tuned by me to shoot swage ammo in them .

I have several guns that shoot slugs and they all have choked barrels in them

and are all stock from Daystate . Please don't listen when people say you need a unchoked

barrel to shoot slugs you just need to tune your gun to shoot a slug well and to find the right slug .

One of the best slug shooting guns Ive ever seen was a Daystate Wolverine 2 HP in 22 cal .

D-RIG,

Interesting comments. I have an AirForce Condor .25 cal. with a 24" choked LW barrel that shoots Rat Sniper 37 grain hollow points sub-MOA at 50 yards (haven't yet tested it on paper at longer ranges), and I keep asking myself if all that is said about choked barrels and slugs is correct. You're doing fantastic at 85 yards and I'm hoping to get similar results at that range as soon as I can test.

Do you know what twist rate is your barrel? I think mine is 22 but I'll have to check it myself to be sure. If I can produce groups like yours at 85 yards, I will no longer be tempted to lop off the choke and re-crown my barrel to improve accuracy with these Rat Sniper slugs.
