The Atamans have arrived on American soil

"Aftica"I came across a strange ad in Norway the other day with a Ataman AP16 in 4,5mm/.177 ???!?! I was under the impression that they only made them in .22
I checked out the pictures and it says 4,5 on the side could anyone elaborate?

Check out the Ataman website. They offer a much broader range of options than what Air Venturi is importing. It's probable that the Norwegian importer ordered some in that caliber while Air Venturi didn't. PA only sells the type 1 bp stocks in synthetic and type 2 in walnut but Ataman offer both types in either material on their website.

I got the impression from PA that the manufacturer (which I don't think is Ataman) makes them to order for specific customers.

I had almost forgotten about the Ataman pistols. I guess the first lot will be arriving with the latest shipment too. It's definitely the most pistol-like pcp pistol I've seen to date.

They look awesome. I wish I could think of an actual use for them. With a carbine stock and a scope, I might be able to use one for very light hunting. The novelty of shooting paper at short distances with the open sights wouldn't last long for me. If I was in the market for a pistol, that's the one I'd get though. There's no single shot nonsense and it's not too big to be used as a pistol like most others.

I use bullpups for that. I'd most likely miss a bird at 15 yards with a pistol and no scope. Maybe I could do it with practice but I don't like to hunt without a scope.

I usually find that it's the sound of me opening the window that spooks them. If they are still there after that, I can get one of the bullpups on target very quickly. The Mutant Shorty doesn't really extend beyond the grip any more than a pistol anyway.

I'm sure somebody will come up with carbine grips with a shoulder stock attached if they become popular which I'm sure they will given how few credible competitors they have in the price range.
