Are you aware that this overlaps with the Field Target Nationals?

Not the same days, but that’s not the point. It is that if one wanted to participate in both events, it would not be possible. You can’t be at an event that ends on a certain day and then travel across the country and begin an event that starts that same day (I would consider practice at a new venue essential). Especially with the challenge of shipping so much gear.

I’m not faulting anyone or any institution (thank you for all the work involved with hosting such an event), simply suggesting that, in the future, the organizers from both events communicate with each other ahead of time around dates so that folks who want to go to both can.

You are so right, but here at Phoenix Airgun Club we have to have our times for the range put in well in advance so we all can fit in with Rio Salado Sportsman Club and all there matches they have all year also.  In the future maybe we all can try and come together well in advance for the next year matches and Nationals.

FT Nationals for 2018 was announced at the dinner after 2017 Nationals. So claiming ignorance of the date in advance has no grounds here, This isn’t the first time your club has scheduled it’s large airgun events during FT Nationals.

John_in_Ma I did not say in my comment we did not know when the AAFTA Field Target National was to be held, our club was given the privilege to hold the USARB Benchrest National again so we found the time.
Like I try to say we have to fit in with the Club we are a part of, and their matches also.  The USARB just gave our club the go ahead to hold the Benchrest Nationals a little over two weeks ago so we had to find the time we could fit it in.  So sorry for the inconvenience in the schedule, this is the best we could do with the timing we had.

To word this response more carefully, why wouldn’t the National Benchrest group and the National Field Target group work out scheduling to not conflict with each other……………so the Airgun shooter  won’t miss out on two great events.

The Quail Creek Air Gun Club has contacted the USARB, as a possible venue for future USARB National Competitions.  We are the only users of our range.  We have 20 shooting lanes.  Are 25 miles from the Tucson airport.  Have very good (and reasonably priced) lodging in nearby Green Valley, AZ.  Food for thought.  Visit qcairgunclub.com.
