The 0 post new member lowballs and questions in the pm's have you guys had any ?

I understand everyone's points BUT just had to present an alternative view.

Honestly, I've seen something advertised and joined so I could make an offer. Now I never lowballed, it was maybe 10% lower but technically, it was my 0 times post. What if someone is just getting into the hobby and sees something they like... Don't screen those guys out, there may be some wheat in the chaff.

Just some food for thought there.

There's another viewpoint I have, I'm not even going to contact a guy that's trying to sell a pre-owned anything if he's asking full price. But in my foreign country experience (worked in 17 other countries), a lot of people think it very normal to set a high price and expect to get a low offer and they expect to haggle to a mutually agreeable price. Most Americans just can't understand that culturally. Over there they almost have fun haggling, here we think a person is 'wasting my time'.

As for the first point regarding 0 posts, I get your point. I don’t get into the lowballing stuff because it happens everywhere. The thing you do when you limit certain activities when the person has 0 posts, is you make them realize that is is not a site dedicated to buying and selling, but much more. The classifieds become a bonus to the regulars. I am on sites where the moderators actually kick off people who don’t do more than post in the classifieds. I’m not going to buy from someone with 0 posts, but it does give a scammer an in to be able to rip off people who are too trusting.i am fine with extra post protections for members.

If you think about it, most don't think much of getting offered 50% at the gun store for what they paid full price for when the item was brand new.

That being said I don't low ball offer but I don't offer what the asking price is either. The deal either is acceptable to both or not. It's kind of funny really! A couple months ago I had a scope for sale LNIB at 25% of MAP/$589. Guy makes low ball offer and we haggle, the deal didn't work out over a $20 difference, lol, oh well. A month later the guy gets back in touch, we still couldn't get past that $20. He wasn't paying more and I was as low as I was going to go.

I'd be very leary of a 0 post seller, not worth the chance. Buyer's need to send guaranteed funds.

I have to admit I saw a "what is the best airgun " post with no mention of budget, from a zero post new person that creeped me out. I just had a premonition of somebody posting an for sale ad one one of the other forums with what we posted.

Being new to the craft, I am hunting for bargains for my non existent budget.

Back in October I let badgerfarm know his ad was word for word on airguns.net

I agree with the thought that the classifieds are a perk for members.

Seeing the post history like from biohazardman, let's me know that a knowledgeable, trustworthy person is behind the sale. I have not had the privilege to buy or sell here yet. So, my few questions and thoughts are all there is to let you decide whether to do business with me or not.
