Thanksgiving Squirrel Hunt, Watch-**Only if Very Bored**

Nice job David!! Sorry about the fall.....is the gun okay? ;-)

I heard red squirrels twice in this video....very nice...thank you! And I hope you're just sore and not injured. I had a bad fall on the farms this summer.....I thought I impaled myself in the lower abdomen. Had to take two days off work and had swelling and pain for a month. I hope you're okay.

Thanks Bob! Yea, red squirrels were every where. I did not notice that until you told be. Thanks!

Not boring at all!! Most importantly, hope that you are okay from the fall. As far as the gun goes, it’s an Edgun. It would have taken that fall a whole lot better than a bunch of others. For recouping, maybe a little Wild Turkey will help ease your pains today. Thanks for the video!

I'll be okay. I'll just be sore for a couple of days. When I got home I noticed it had a big crack in the stock. I quickly check the scope, gun mechanics, and the zero- all were spot on. Amazing! I cant believe a gun/scope can do that. Hardwood stock can be damaged, but the scope and gun did not even flinch. That is why I picked both the Edgun and SWFA; Durability. I'll be updrading one of those laminates soon.

Oh, I be regrouping and easing pain with the Grey Goose today, not wild Turkey.

Not boring at all. Hopefully no lasting effects (to you) from the fall. Stinks about cracking your Leyla stock, but like you said, it speaks to the ruggedness of Ed’s gun!

Yea, it going be hard for me to move to anything else other than Edgun and Swfa, after that durability test. If it was any other gun or scope brand, I would probably be shopping for a new gun and scope.

As for my fall, nothing serious. Back was okay, turned out to be more of my shoulder and collarbone. Few days, I'll be fine.

First off, ice that shoulder and get better. 👍

Great video! That camo works. There's one part in your video where you were using the downed tree to aim up at your second squirrel and I seriously didn't know you were behind the gun.

I thought you propped the Lelya on the tree to do a photo op or something until you moved. Gotta love Edgun and SWFA. I just placed an order for an SWFA SS 3-15x42 Mil-Quad taking advantage of their Black Friday sale.

This will be going on a R5M Standard .25cal which I'm saving up for and I'll be getting it by the end of December. Sorry about the stock. Are you able to post a pic of the crack? I'm also wondering when their synthetic stocks will be available. Would be perfect for hunting trips.

Sure.

There it is. It still functions, I'm in no rush to replace it but I will. I think I'll be putting putting a matador into my collection too. It will probably be a long in either .25 or .30 or a high powered .22 configuration. Congrads on the scope. You will love it! I just bought two more for Black Friday also!

Great video, & glad you weren't hurt too bad by the fall!

Love wood stocks, but have to admit a quality synthetic does offer some advantages. From what I see though, a skilled wood worker could likely fix that one to the point you'd not be able to tell it was ever cracked.

Another Edgun + SWFA guy here... mine is a Matador, long version in .25- let me know if you have any questions about it (spoiler: highly recommended!)

If you don't have any soft jawed wood working clamps find a buddy with some of buy one. You can work some wood working glue in that crack and clamp it closed and you might not be able to see the crack unless looking very close. A better fix is to use thin CA (super) glue. Its as thin as water and will wick deep into the crack but you need to work fast and quickly wipe any squeeze out. BTW nail polish remover is the fix if you glue your fingers together, but I would think twice before using it on squeeze out as it might damage the stock finish. It might be helpful to put some stock wax around the repair area to help prevent glue from maring the finish. Just dont get any down in the crack. I fixed a badly broken springer stock this way. You may think Im joking about the CA glue but Im serious. I turn wooden pens often from punky or cracked wood and that thin CA will travel down a crack in a pen blank. I have glued my fingers to a blank several times.

I’m amazed that’s all that happened after a drop on the ice. You see all the videos, especially the one with him running over one of his rifles, and guys saying how tough they are. Then yours just has a small crack in the stock after that incident, wow. That’s really a testament, and you were using it for what it was designed for, putting food on the table! I bet it would make Ed proud. It gives a new meaning to, takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.

Peskadot, bbstacker, Dan25, Pmg,

Thanks for the great advice. I've been researching ways to fix the stock. Dan, I do know a friend who works on wood. I'll tell him your advice.

The gun was in my hand as I fell back. I threw my hands against the ice and the gun bounced several feet into the air. So, I did not drop it, I slammed it, really hard. Ill make a video of actually how hard I hit it against the ice.

In slow mo the the sound is completely different. I don't know why it comes across like that. In real time, the shot is just low "tink". There is no sound of a hammer bounce (like a marauder), or cylinder "ping".

The phone, or side mount, could be rattling and making that sound too. Or, it just distorts inslow-mo, I don't know.

I will be coyote hunting out the this year. I'll keep everyone posted.
