... Thank You DairyBoy for a new pest shooting technique

Because of a DairyBoy thread about his Taipan Shorty I 'pulled the trigger' and purchased an Arca + Picatinny adapter to use when popping starling at my dairies.

Shooting off a tripod is a cool setup and infinitely more stable than I imagined.

Thanks Man!

Yes, I've also got to thank Dairyboy, Dillon, for spending my money. Already had a lower picatinny rail on my pesting gun (a cricket mini carbine now) so bought the Arca adapter. Put it on my Manfrotto tripod but the ball head wouldn't lock down tight enough for the imbalanced cricket mini carbine. Bought a Leofrotto 40 ballhead and it's solid as a rock. Great shooting platform and I have to thank Dillon for the inspiration.

I've got both a Caldwell Precision Turret and a Bog Death Grip Tripod setup on a second floor balcony overlooking our small grove. Each position has a different field / distance of fire. Which has permitted a simple citizen the continued joy of thinning those cute little fuzzies. Generally raining hell down upon their very destructive community, from the comfort of modern day living.

A couple of my buddies use them coyote hunting, I think they did the bog carbon fiber. They really like them, both are older and one had a stroke so it allows him to still hunt.

That is excellent that the stroke victim is STILL HUNTING.

I went budget:
$38 for adapter
$58 for tripod
TOTAL = $96

The tripod is actually for a camera and I'll use it for both.

I guess by older I should clarify, he was early 50s when he had the stroke…. Almost 60 now. Oh god….I’m almost 40 but still a big kid. Yeah it was rough, the guy is like an uncle to me. He is back hunting and working. I’ve considered a tripod for my coyote rig.

My cousin had a stroke in his 40's, SAD.

Busy welding stuff and have only tried the setup in the dining room (hAhA) but maybe today. Have NOT put My Taipan Vet Long on the tripod yet.

I see using this setup at:
1. Dairies, fur sher
2. Ground squirrel playing peek-a-boo in a 150 yard long wood pile / deck I hunt

Sitting in a chair, with a someone stuffing pellets into magazines for me, and shooting off a tripod sounds like fun. Only 1/2 of that will happen.
