Texan owners: .308 vs .357

I have both guns in the SS format and the .308 is a bit more accurate. Of course, the standard Texan will be a bit different as it has a longer barrel but hopefully this info will help some. And remember, you can pull two AGs off of the same line and they might like different ammo, so test as much as you can.

.308

I have had best luck with the slugs below:

.357

The .357 is no slouch either and obviously will punch a bit larger hole, both guns are capable of at least MOA groups.

The best round I have found for the .357 thus far is:

The .308 LSS I got has proven to be a challenge to pin down. The LSS shroud has some issues with fitment. I ended up trimming the shroud by a little more than 1/16" so that it floats and allows the air stripper to seat properly. That and polishing the barrel tightened up my shop 4 shot groups at 15 yards to a single hole. Still having inconsistent velocities based on temps in the barn? Last night it was 38 degrees in the shop and I was getting consistent 965 fps with 155gr, while Monday when the Temps were a mild 66 degrees they were a consistent 922 Fps with 128gr. I am out of ammo, so further testing will have to wait until my care package from Nick arrives. I am hoping to figure out these velocity swings, 965 fps on 155gr is a whooping 320fpe. I can only hope that is a new norm.
