Texan .308 Barrel

I contacted AirForce since it had been rumored quit a while ago that there would be a .308 barrel that could be purchased to convert the Factory .257 Texan to .308.

I just received a quote from AirForce and the price not including Tax and shipping was $359. Yes that is right over 1/3 the retail cost of a complete rifle. Well I am not biting! :(

Thurmond,

That does sound crazy $ for a barrel. I don’t think there’s anything really special about it either. Probably already thought of this, but why not use the .308 for everything? Seems like it’d be happy to shoot light ammo with the power dialed back, then crank it up for deer & hog. Sounds like you really like the .257, so you’re probably not going to part with it tho 😂

I love the .257 and have since my Grand Dad used a .257 Roberts many years ago now. Unfortunately my mother let my brother-in- law have it 😡 when my dad died. I have a significant investment in molds for it as well. The .308 is not desirable to me EXCEPT to maintain legality in Texas hunting, however, I have plenty of other candidates for use in Deer hunting in Texas. My recently acquired Extreme Big Bore Titanium .408 will get the job done on anything from a 2000 lb water buffalo to a 100 lb wild pig. It just does not do it very efficiently. lol
