Testing a variety of pellets in my Edgun Leshiy

So I received my Edgun Leshiy with 250mm .22cal barrel and Dedal Stalker 6X scope a little over 3 weeks ago from Edgun West. I have it set up using the factory regulator shooting the JSB 15.89gr for 12 FPE mainly for rats. I also placed an order for a Huma 12 FPE regulator and I'll see how it performs with it later. For now, I want to see how it shoots with the factory regulator.

I'm basing my settings using different pellets and Strelok Pro. I know it's only 12 FPE but with the factory regulator, I'm getting a decent amount of shots somewhere like 35 to 40 shots from 250 BAR fill down to 135 BAR. With Strelok Pro, I can see the trajectory and FPE at different ranges using different pellets. Pretty cool.

Using Strelok, my zero is set at 17 yards and it gives me the least amount of hold under using a 16gr pellet. It's perfect for my limited range around my house and backyard for rats. What amazed me about this little gun was shooting a dove at 62 yards. Although it took a second shot to nail it because I didn't have a stable rest, I was surprised.

For my testing with different pellets, I shot 10 pellets through my chrony to get an average for each different pellet brand. Besides JSB 15.89gr Exacts, I tried H&N Baracuda Match 21gr., 5.53 head size. The only thing I didn't care for was the fit into the chamber. It was tight. I also noticed this in my Daystate Huntsman Regal.

Considering both barrels are made by LW, I still want to try the Baracudas in smaller head sizes; 5.52, 5.51 and 5.50mm if they make them. What I noticed with the Baracudas was that they were erratic shooting through my chrony. Somewhere like 20 to 30 FPS extreme spread in a 10 shot string. For the Baracudas, I increased the velocity 2 clicks to get me an average of 576 FPS/15.47 FPE. The reason I increased the velocity was to have the trajectory similar to the 16gr pellets and to have the same point of impact at my zero range, 17 yards.

The five shot group on the top target is at 576 fps. The target in the middle was 2 five shot groups. The cluster in the bottom of the middle target was without adjusting the HST shooting the Baracudas at 510 fps. The bottom target was shot using JSB 15.89gr just to see if it was still zeroed.

The next pellets I tried was the JSB branded FX 18gr. Pretty decent.

JSB Predator Polymags 16gr Standard Length. What I noticed is that after 10 shots over the chrony and 25 shots for groups was that on group #6, it really tightened up. So what I have to revisit changing to different pellets is to lead in the barrel for 35 to 40 shots. It's a lot of work but oh well.

I don't know what happened to group #3. Tired maybe? On group #4, i only put one pellet on it and it started to rain cats and dogs and had to pack it up before I went into work that evening.

I still have JSB Hades, H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme, JSB Predator Shorts, JSB 14.35gr and H&N Sniper Magnum 17.9gr pellets to test out. I'm going to make sure they leaded in properly this time. Next test after this is at 50 yards. I'll post later.

PS, sorry for the long post lol.

Good testing, I went through a bunch of testing with my FX Royal 400 in .22cal, switching from one pellet to another and before long the leading in the barrel had my gun so messed up it wouldn't hardly shoot jsb 15.89gr the ones it really likes, ;~(

Just a couple of suggestions, use a good backer on your target to get a cleaner hole in the paper also Sterlok Pro for the $11 or $12 dollars will give you the power of the magnification, before I purchased it I had to go back and forth between ChairGun to see what power the reticle was correct with, SFP scope of course.

Below is my AAS510ExtraFac .177 8.44gr @ 973fps just as an example

I am using Strelok Pro. The scope on my Leshiy is the Dedal-NV Stalker 6X. It's a fixed power. It will always be 6X at whatever yardage. In regards to the backer for my target, I'll try coming up with something but for the meantime, I'm okay with it. Thanks!

I had it on a different setting so the magnification wasn't showing up. Simple fix.

JSB Predator Polymag Shorts 15.89gr. I didn't really care for these. They were kind of tight fitting in the barrel. I ran 20 pellets through the chrony before shooting for groups.

High: 585

Low: 569

Avg: 579

ES: 16

SD: 3

FPE: 11.83

Next were the JSB Hades .22cal., 15.89gr. I ran 21 through the chrony prior to the groups. No problems loading into the barrel although they were not as tight fitting compared to JSB Exact 15.89gr and definitely looser than the Predator Shorts. The Hades did pretty well.

High: 598

Low: 585

Avg: 591

ES: 13

SD: 3

FPE: 12.33

Edit: Strelok Pro did not have the Predator Shorts and JSB Hades in their files.

The stippling is a nice touch. Now if Ed would extend the grip by making it one centimeter (which equals appr 1/2 an inch in medieval size) longer on the bottom so one can hold it with all the fingers including the pinky, then there would be no more need for an aftermarket grip!

Try the .22 JSB heavies (in 5.52mm) you should get single hole groups at 17 yards easily...

I do agree that the factory grip is a little bit on the short side. For me as well, if the grip was at least 1/2 an inch longer, it would be perfect. I'll see if I can get a hold of some JSB Heavies in 5.52mm head size and try them out. All the testing I'm doing is to see how much the POI changes at 17 yards with different brands of pellets and to check accuracy. I'll do a test at 50 yards with the top contenders at a later time. Thanks.

Groups should be smaller as it is only 17y. Try also 5,51. I used to shoot with 5,52 and 4,52 in my barrels. Once I tried 4,51 and my tight groups got tighter... Then I checked 4,5 and these were flying all over the target.
All Leshiy barrels have light choke and best flying pellets are soft lead like jsb over caliber type.
Clean the barrel after 500 shots. Then after 1000. It should help too. It will shoot like laser ;-)

There might be a lot of factors that I'm not shooting one hole groups at 17 yards.

1. First of all, I'm shooting straight from the tin. No pellet sorting such as weighing and measuring head size or using the roll method.

2. I'm using the Dedal Stalker 6X. It's not exactly a target scope but it does what I need it to do.

3. When I first got my Leshiy, I didn't clean the barrel. That's on me. I have cleaned it though after maybe the 500 mark. I just broke the 1000 mark yesterday.

4. The gun might not be set up for the optimum tune to shoot 12 FPE. When I first got my Leshiy, I did mess with the factory regulator and HST.

5. Maybe I just suck.
