I’m looking to find the best pellet to shoot in my new .25 Daystate Wolverine R HP air rifle. When I say “best”, I mean a pellet that’s accurate and has a fairly high FPE from my gun.
For my test, I shoot 6 pellets each of the following four kinds:
1. JSB Exact King Heavy Diabolo, 33.95 gr.
2. RWS Superdome Field Line, 31.0 gr
3. H&N Baracuda Hunter, 27.47 gr.
4. H&N Baracuda Green (lead free), 19.91 gr.
I can tell you right now, I’ll not be buying any more of the H&N 19.91 gr Baracuda Greens, nor the RWS 31.0 gr Superdomes – their accuracy was not good, with the Superdomes being the worse from my Wolverine.
The JSB 33.95 gr Exact King Heavy Diabolo pellets and the H&N 27.47 gr Baracuda Hunters had real good accuracy, they grouped well, a few even did hole-in-hole. I didn’t use a bench rest, only a “V” thingee mounted on a tripod. I had already zeroed the scope (a Hawke 3-9x40 AO) using the JSB 33.95 Exact Kings pellets, so I already knew they shot well.. The H&N 27.47 gr Barracuda Hunters would also have been good pellets to zero with. And because the JSB 33.95 Exact Kings produced the highest FPE, and are very accurate, they’re going to be my first choice to shoot out of the Wolverine R, HP.
Here’s my data. My Caldwell Precision Ballistic Chrony was 2 feet away.
1. JSB Exact King Heavy Diabolo, 33.95 gr. These shot great.
The six I shot weighed an average of 33.93 gr, not 33.95 gr. (0.02 gr off)
Their average velocity was 819.17 fps. Their average energy was 50.57 fpe.
2. RWS Superdome Field Line, 31.0 gr – These shot terrible for me.
The six I shot weighed an average of 30.8 gr, not 31.0 gr. (0.2 gr off)
Their average velocity was 857.67 fps. Their average energy was 49.85 fpe.
3. H&N Baracuda Hunter, 27.47 gr. These shot great.
The six I shot weighed an average of 27.17 gr, not 27.47 gr. (0.3 gr off)
Their average velocity was 896.17 fps. Their average energy was 48.46 fpe.
4. H&N Baracuda Green (lead free), 19.91 gr. - My gun didn’t shoot them well.
The six I shot weighed an average of 20.13 gr, not 19.91 gr. (0.22 gr off)
Their average velocity was 1002.33 fps. Their average energy was 44.92 fpe.

I should be very close to the velocity and energy you are showing. No chronograph, so I can't say for sure.
