Ok, so I prepare my X for slugs and shooting 26 gn over 950 fps so no worries about power.
I got my 600mm slug liner after months of waiting, (bought it in february 2019)
I got around 600 slugs to test 22,5gn 23gn 24 gn, shoot them all

    Reg Pressure: 150bar, hst wheel @ max, 5, 4, 3

Slug tested, Vermint Knokers 22,5 and 24gn, Nielsen 23gn

    Speeds (average)
    VK 22,5gn : 1005 + on Max, 980 on 5, 960 on 4
    NSA 23gn: 985 on max, 950 on 5, 935 on 4, 895 on 3
    VK 24gn: 975 on max, 950 on 5, 925 on 4,  870 on 3

    Pic 1: VK 22,5gn
tight group on 980 fps, did not test on 3 since by experience group is similar to 4

    Pic 2: NSA 23gn
I manage to do better groups on NSA, but with this one, I couldn´t. Best group on 5 (950 fps) 2 slugs went into 1 Hole

Pic 3: VK 24gn wheel at 4, was good, 3 slugs in one hole, I tested again and was a tight group, but hmmm

    Results: Not good

I took my pellet liner thinking that I might done something wrong with my settings, and bang right on the spot, did that like 3 times, back and forth…

After talking around I found out something that I think is critical, twist rate.

FX made to public 2 kinds of Liners for Slugs, with different twist rate

    Gen1: TR 1:18
    Gen 2: TR 1:16

I measure my Slug Liner and to my surprise it was the Gen1 barrel, even when I bought it a month ago, (but that is another story, that I will refer later). 1:16 liners are of course an improvement to 1:18 and I believe what we see in South Africa (Matt D and AirHunters) are 1:16 liners, and I know from Bob_o videos and post that he has the Gen2 1:16

Anyway, my conclusion on 1:18 Slug liner 600 mm 0,22 cal at 40 meters (44 yards) is that is inconsistent, at certain speed it start to group, but I could not manage to do a decent 5 shoot group on any speed and setting, and with that I mean MOA groups at 44 yards, in one group I manage to stack 3 slugs in the same hole, in other 2, but that is about it. I did try 75 meters (83 yards) but it was not worth it, same results. 1:18 liner are too speed dependable (need a precise speed) and need much power to get it make smaller groups. I believe all that is no news to FX or vendors and that is why there is a GEN 2 slug liners with 1:16 twist rate. The thing is NO ONE tell you that! (BTW I do not blame FX at all! nor the vendor, I should be better inform before buying, is my fault mostly) Now I have to wait  availability and spend another 120 bucks for a liner that works can actually works. It might be the Slugs? Might be, but seen others results with the 1:16 liner with the slugs I test,  I think is not

Unless someone advise me otherwise, I will stop all test on slugs until I get the 1:16 twist rate, since  is just a waist of  Slugs, for me those results are not acceptable at that distance.

Here is the measure of my Slug Liner

So a world of caution, before getting a Slug Liner, be sure that you know the twist rate of the liner you are getting!

Disclaimer: I might be wrong assuming some things, not an expert on barrels or slugs, please feel free to correct me. English is not my native tong son probably lots of gramar errors, sorry about that.

Have you tried the original STX barrel that came with your gun I know

some people that have had good results from shooting at 940-950 fps .

That is typical of the 22.5s when shot from a gen 1 slug barrel 980 is the sweet spot .

Use the 22.5 grain , it seams to be the best it's not perfect but it works ,

it needs to be the STX barrel and not the smooth twist .

You’re trying different weights at different speeds but what size in thousandths are you buying your slugs?

5.50 or .217” may not be working if liner needs .218, .219” I don’t know FX product dimensions but my .25 Sumatra needs .253” @ 40 yards & can put (5) 50 grain slugs in 1/4” & does great out as far as I’ve tried it which was 200 yards trying to pick off corn stalks sticking out of snow covered field with 8 mil hold over on 6x. It’s minute of groundhog.

Do you have good micrometers? If not send me one of your unfired slugs, a few pushed through & shot on low power into a water trap or non deforming soft target, like old pillows or something.

Forgot to mention that, .218, I will polish the liner also, but there is a reason why FX made a second liner with a faster twist rate.

Also is my understanding that the liners were made around those slugs.

    hello D-rig

can I order the slugs 22 directly from you?

I can't buy them through eBay because of eBay policy!

it would be about the lighter variand lighter as 23 grain because I shoot with a short linner of 500mm I can't get enough power from my FX impact for heavier ones

I saw that your slugs are 22.5 grain I would like this one to test.

do you also produce lighter for caliber 22 ??

    thank you very much jan

Best group Ive ever made with slugs, 🤪

With the pellet liner jajaja damn! More testing coming… Happy again

thanks for your information you give us i

have replaced the original stx linner with a slug linner a I tested the NSA slugs 23 grain I couldn't get any good groups out of it

now would test the NSA slugs 21 grain and the slugs from D-Rig but at this time it is impossible to get hold of slugs in holland

very briefly here were the NSA slugs available but they have been sold out for 2 months now and are also not availablein in a short thime.

conclusion I bought slug linner but has no slugs for testing pffff.

that is why I had hoped to buy slug from D-Rig diect from him

    thanks

I was in exactly the same situation, started producing slug myself and got a very good result.

    @vadimas got a a few questions

    what cal?

    what gun?

    what liner and twist rate?

    speed? reg pressure?

type of ammo you are making?

    Grains? or Grams?

Did you buy the mold or make it yourself?

Very nice group BTW! and very good job! that is the accuracy I am looking for!

@vadimas just saw your post on https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/impact-x-22-slug-liner-do-you-have-one/page/4/

Several of my questions answered there 260 m/s = 853 fps nice!, that match with my last test, just want to know what liner are you using and twist rate
