Temecula Long Range Airgun Western National Championship event, May 17th, 2020

We plan on keeping the Temecula Challenge Tradition alive by making this an even more challenging and fun event than last year. To test your skills and shoot with some of the best, join us for a great weekend of competition and camaraderie.

You will be fed

Several nice meals will be provided as is our normal tradition but BYOB.

Match event

The match event will be an up to 40 shots (vs last year's 15 shots). Otherwise will be similar to last year’s Long-Range Championship, including 115-yard clay targets. But due to the high difficulty factors of last year, we now have actual benches and will allow use of bipods.

Equipment:

Any safe airgun(s)* of .22 caliber or less firing pellets only (no slugs) and having an output of under 70fpe will be allowed. No magazines will be used during the match, single load only. Guns may have an attached bipod ahead of the trigger guard, or a sandbag may be used under the forend, but no rear support such as a monopod etc.

May 16, practice all day:

Practice for registered competitors, on Saturday between 8am and 5pm and the hour prior to the shoot on Sunday. Equipment may be inspected before you are allowed to sight in. Practice ONLY at the designated sight-in area or in the 51yd tunnel. (don't be a tunnel-hog, move along after a reasonable time if it’s backing up.

May 16, Air gun Swap event:

We will have an Airgun Swap event on Saturday afternoon like we did some did some years past, encouraging enthusiasts desiring to buy, swap, or sell their personal air guns, parts, and paraphernalia. The swap event will take place Saturday afternoon. Even non-competitor participants are encouraged to come on out and deal air guns. Please bring your own table. A small fee of $5.00 each will be assessed for table spaces (no stuff displayed except on tables or well away from garage/patio area.

May 17, Match Day:

Shooter's meeting and squadding, 9:00 am-9:20

Match Start: 9:30 am

Lunch: Est 1:30pm

Cash Awards: after Lunch, approximately 70% of all entry and other fees will be given out to top shooters

Match Details:

- Relays of four to five shooters line up on the line according to squad instructions (shooters will switch benches each of the four relays)

- Shooters MUST be at their assigned bench in timely fashion or accrue penalty.

-Shooters will place ten pellets in the supplied holders at the bench, and use them for the relay, stopping when they are gone, or if cease fire is called.

-On command, shooters will fire up to ten shots at their five clay pigeons (any order) and, once all are hit, the” clockstopper" (unless another competitor has already stopped the clock!).

-When a marshal sees a competitor has cleaned all his targets, including the final "reduced" one, he will call Cease Fire.

Normal range safety rules will apply. Marshals will call hot and cold line. Aiming or firing will only be allowed on the sighting range or the upper range with marshal present.

-Competitors may contest at the end of any relay, but not after the next relay has started. Sometimes a clay will be pierced of seriously chipped (more than a pellets width damage), and it’s up to the shooter or his spotter to note it before the targets are serviced so the target setter can confirm.

-Scoring will be one point for each hit, plus tiebreaker points for a relay "clock stopper" target.
