Ted's holdover

I saw that video jaja was fun! ... First thing it crossed my mind was...damn that should be so easy to fix! jajaja (specially with his experience) ... we all have the right of our 5 "fury" minutes...still not important (in general life)...and we all make mistakes at some point..and that video was a mistake (is not there anymore so that say something)...but hey...I do not watch Ted for his values, I do it because is fun, entertain and sometimes educational. Watching him trying to cock the gauntlet.. was hilarious!!! (and a bit dumb.. but the objective was accomplish ... he put a smile in my face! jajaja)

Ted is one cool dude. And, I bet he's single-handedly sold more high-end air rifles (of all brands) than anyone else in history - simply by showing us how FUN they are. He built this forum so we can talk airguns. He's funny, personable, smart and can shoot like nobody's business. Ted made airguns cool again. I don't think you can really overestimate his influence on this hobby/industry. And, he's cool (did I mention that?) in his hoodie w/ white terminator shades - who doesn't like Ted? Yeah, there were guys shooting nice guns but NOTHING like this. I remember when he was the only guy out there making videos like that - making crazy shots with the Edgun in slo mo with a scope cam, holding over six dots, three into the wind. It was really mind blowing to stumble on to his website back then. There was no Extreme Benchrest, no plethora of airgun hunting videos, no amazing selection of readily available high end pcp's - just this crazy kid with a really cool air rifle doing amazing things with it. There was nothing else like it. There still isn't which is probably why half a million people subscribe to his channel (that's the entire population of a major US city). I wonder if the NSA could run some kind of analysis and figure out just exactly how many smiles over the past 10 years on this planet are directly linked to Ted? Quite a few of mine are.

Ahhh, the infamous videos. Yes, I did see the videos and the issues with said Gauntlet. that wasn't the perceived slight I was referring to, much more of a general, "the world is looking for an insult" kind of thing.

Yup that was a bad thing, fanned and made worse by Umarex that should have been more professional. I too was disappointed when the videos came down. And, while I wouldn't mind having something like a Gauntlet, all Umarex guns are currently off my list. As I understand it, Umarex isn't a manufacturer, just a reseller, so may not have wanted to admit to some less than stellar quality issues. just look at their home page to see the list of guns they sell. Baretta, Browning, hammerli, heckler and Koch, Ruger, RWS, Umarex, Walther, Colt, Glock, Legends, Smith & Wesson, and more.

I suspect there was a bit of back room pressure to get both to take their videos down at the same time, if you know what I mean.

Happily, that incident is moving to the past and the future is bright with the Dreamline coming out, putting downward pressure on prices across the PCP market. The future looks very bright.

Keep shooting straight, have fun and I never want to get caught up in the politics and drama, I'm here to have fun

Care to point how it was fanned and made worse by Umerex. I understand you are an FX fanboi but to say the future is bright on something that does not exist yet is a bit of a reach.

(You) don't get my point, I don't care what he was *cough* reviewing....it could have been a claw hammer for all I care, it was a classless move, and really showed his true nature. His agenda is clear, and yet he tries to hide it, yet another issue with him.

You might want to check up on the Umerex company you are pretty far off base, but then that does not shock me as people with their noses up somewhere usually don't get a very good view of what the real issues are.

All the videos are down, but lets just say that before they disappeared, the Umarex folks watching the videos said a few things that just fanned it right along. Got bad enough the Umarex management team finally had to get involved and put the can on the Social Media group. Too bad all the videos are gone along with extra comments.

As such, I support companies that have a reputation for working with the end consumer. Umarex didn't live up to that expectation, so for now, all off my list. Besides, introducing guns like the Hammer and waiting how long to deliver? Or the poor quality of the original Gauntlet? Those are classless moves.

I'll work with companies interested in a longer term relationship, and there seems to be enough competition I can do quite well without Umarex.

And as far as having my nose up somewhere, might want to check yours as well. Experiences vary with any company, but insulting people like that is a bit uncalled for. If you like buying a project gun brand new out of the box, have at it.
