AIRGUNNER PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT: DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT FROM PCP TUNES

AIRGUNNER PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT: DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT: PCP Tunes Airforce Texan Regulator with Dual Gauge!!! I just got off the phone with a trusted airgunner who informed me there has been a catastrophic failure of one of these devices. I just received the photos and it is scary.

You may have seen me recently test this regulator on a video and on social media posts. This kind of failure is a zero tolerance issue in my book. If you have one of these - TAKE IT OFF. If you just ordered one - CANCEL YOUR ORDER. If you have one - DO NOT INSTALL IT!

Thank GOD no one was hurt. I am going to let the machinists and engineers in our airgunner community reading this explain theories of why this failure occurred, but I just wanted to make sure I let everyone know about this as soon as I got word of it.

Bigger picture statement... It is important for us as a community to inform each other of these kinds of failures to protect each other. IMMEDIATELY!

O-rings fail, guns leak, and stuff happens that we may not always share openly when things go bad with gear or brands we love, but when it comes to failures like this - YOU MUST SHARE.

Even if something was working great for you 9 times out of 10 - if something like this happens - SAY SOMETHING RIGHT AWAY. This goes not only for failures like this or bottle failures or failing safeties and trigger mechanisms, if something happens to you that is this level of a safety issue - TAKE ACTION.

Information is still coming in about this catastrophic failure and we will be providing more information as it comes to light.

I got a .35L AceCare bottle that can be filled to 300 bar. My head was spinning from conflicting information within the airgunner community as to if these bottles were safe given they aren't DOT approved. A trusted source sent me some information that these come from the same factories as many of the DOT bottles we get here in the U.S. The only thing I had to do is get some of those plugs to screw in where the pressure gauge was on the valve since the gauges on now on the reg. I got those plugs from TalonTunes. The 7-10 shots is good, but an even better set up would be with a 50 or 68Ci Ninja style bottle for way more shots.

This is what happen to one of them today. Luck it happened when filling the gun or it would have killed him.

This thing is a ticking bomb. PCP tunes sells junk and alway has.

Thanks for the heads up Doug!

Update : And UpNorthAirgunner (the OP) has posted a warning in General Discussion on this failure and I posted some thoughts there on what I see in the pictures.

I'm not a fan of too much government regulation but this may be a case that the affected individual needs to report this to the Consumer Product Safety guys to get the sale of these blocked and a recall done.

Thanks for the link to the other post. I have also edited this original thread as well to bring attention to this issue.

Ya - after I did that review and to have something like this happen was extremely scary. I made the decision immediately after this happened when it comes to reviewing or testing 3rd party gear or modified components that is any part of the power plant or under pressurized air - I will be sending to at least 2 independent engineers within our community before I do any kind of video review on any modified valves, regulators, or bottle kits. This was a HUGE lesson learned for me personally and to assume just because a company makes something commercially available means it has been developed with the highest levels of safety tolerances. A good example of modded kit where a good level of certainty of safety and engineering review was performed would be the FX Power Tune kit that Ken Hicks from Southern Precision Air Weapons is going to be selling. That kit I know for sure has had experts at FX review it and I feel comfortable reviewing and using that kit.
