Talons & a Flying Chipmunk.

I love seeing stuff like that.

I was sitting at my gun early in the morning, drinking my coffee & Looking out for yard/garden intruders when I see out of my right, flying low (4 yards) a Red Hawk holding a Chipmunk in it’s Talons. Flew literally right in front of me. 
Very cool sight, made my morning, and saved me a pellet.

I know the feeling. I have several hawks in my backyard woods - mostly Redtails & Coopers. I pop starlings from my deck off my bird 

feeders & suet blocks at 32 yards, I don't even have to go pick 'em up. A hawk will swoop in & snatch them off the ground within minutes. 

Had a cripple (wing shot) starling a couple weeks ago & before I could manage a kill shot a redtail came outta nowhere & got him. 

Like you said: "saved me a pellet".....

This has been going on for a year or more & I think they are alerted by the sound of my AG.

IT took a few seconds to get it all registered in my head a few weeks back when I saw a BALD EAGLE carrying a rabbit across the yard at about 8ft. off the ground! Oh the times you wish you had your camera set up and running! The old lady has some good stills though.

A little off subject, I worked for a company that made m16 bolts, government contract. We had an in ground range for testing they bolts. It was in the middle of a field. Which I mowed. The field was full of rats and some rabbits. As I mowed they would run out. An owl showed up, and then a hawk they would nail them on the run. Next mouth when I started the tractor up about 4 owls and 3 hawks showed up and the feeding began. It was cool to watch them swoop down and grab them near the tractor bush hog. Pretty smart birds of pray.

Cool stories guys! Dave, I’m amazed how fast animals adapt. 

Boog, I was too. Every time I started the tractor it was like a dinner bell went off. The pray birds lit in the trees at field lol.
