¡¡¡TAIPAN(s)!!!

Anybody try slugs in the shorties? Once I deplete most of my pellet stock I’m wanting to go the slug rout

The new FX Hybrids shoot lights out out of my Shorty at 30 yards, 3 shot group inside my pinky nail.

What velocity are you seeing with those?

Mid 700s if I recall correctly. The gun will shoot 18gr JSBs high 800s or low 900s. But these fit a bit tight, and are a bit heavier.

That's not bad.. and that was with the same regulator pressure used to hit the low 900's? I have 4 boxes of the FXH to test out, but I'd probably keep it setup for 18gr.

Now u need a .177 Vet

Way too windy here for .177 (I can't even shoot 15.89gr JSBs / Hades, except for maybe 2-3 days a year 😭)

Yes, same reg pressure. I am not set up to be messing around with the internals of the guns. I take them to Charlie Frear when I need something done. I'm hoping to clean up my workshop and have it functional next year. Then maybe I can start learning to do my own work, tuning, etc. At least that is the plan, life is kinda hectic for me though, got too many other things (priorities) going on: Work, Kids, Wife, Life in general.

Here ya go, this is the group from the Shorty.

I have a vet standard in .22 and it doesn't have much bark at all with the factory mod. I added my FX Impact factory can, because it was sitting around and you hear the action report much more than the firing of the rifle.

you dont need a monster silencer for them because you dont remove the original shrouds to instal the silencer..... in other words the rifle will work with double silencer!!......a friend of mine have a veteran long in .25 60fpe with a DONNYFL SUMO and it doesnt sounds NOTHING!!!

That's what I like to hear (or not hear!) 👍

@intenseaty22 - I hear you about the time and prios. Tinkering and tuning can also be a huge time vacuum! Nice group btw, with any luck I'll be able to bring both of my new 22's out to dial in next weekend.. hoping for similar accuracy out if the box 💨

BTW, in regards to the silencer: The Shorty is very quiet without anything added. Adding anything at all, any brand and can’t hardly be heard. However, I did remove my shroud and added a Weihrauch silencer, it screws right on to the barrel. Gun is very quiet still, but the overall length was shortened (from having both) I also added a CF shroud. Gave it a nice look.

I didn't realize the Mutant and Veterans had different thread sizes. I had ordered a 1/2-20 adapter from Donny after I made the deal for the shorty, but I had to order another for the Vet today. How long is that Weihrauch LDC that you used? I remember hearing that they were super effective! Might have to get one soon to try out.

Ernest is selling air tube extensions on eBay for the Vets. I asked him about compatibility with the Mutants, and he said they should also fit the tube. I ordered one from him, but I might order a couple more to tap some threads for an external reg pressure gauge (at least for my Vet - I can see that one being the one that I'll want to tinker with more up front). I'm planning to add a larger plenum in that guy so that extra volume should would nice to have. I almost bought a knurled HST knob from Donny - just not a fan of the red, plus I have a lathe for projects like that anyways :)

Ammo - I'll stick with 18gr in the Mutant, but I need to figure out what to shoot with the Vet. Are the LW's in the standard the match-grade choked barrels? (Forgot to ask Tony about that on the phone). I'd love to get it setup for ~27-28gr hollow points and also be able to run the JSB Monsters with the same tune (i.e., not having to mess with the reg pressure).

Thanks! 😎

The barrels are choked. You can get an adjuster from Donny that is black. He has two options for colors.

I'll pass on that. $50+tax+shipping isn't worth it in any color lol. I can see it being a 5 step process to make.. I get it, but I already have spanner pliers and wrenches and it'd take me 10 minutes to make a custom adapter if I needed to. I just have a rule about buying i to solutions looking for problems, but that's me 🤷‍♂️

I've had good luck with shorter choked LW barrels in PCPs after polishing. I haven't had one yet that didn't need the full polishing treatment though. I suppose that if I get a bad one, I can always put in an FX barrel or track down a CZ (I'm working on sourcing one already).

How well does the standard shoulder? Is it balanced well?

Yeah, I was just letting you know that the Donny adjuster are available in two colors. I don’t actually use it myself as I have no problem with the factory setup.

All Taipans shoulder well bro

Awesome! I've been let down by some that looked the part, but didn't shoulder too great when I got them (I won't bash them though).

I'm getting real anxious.. my standard from Tony gets here Tuesday and the shorty will be here next Thursday. The UPS driver is probably going to be looking at me sideways when I'm right at the street to meet him both days 🙃

Now that the snake has bit the only cure is another, that’s why I have two. I wish I had the long version in .25 but have the shorty in both .22 and .25

Owning 2 , seems to be the norm .

NICE! 22 and 25? And haha, yes - I have the shorty coming Thursday and already considering a .25 long 👍 Really digging the feel of these.

Ernest was also quick in getting me the first plenum extension that I ordered...

My only concern is that it will make the air tube protrude slightly past the factory shroud, but I haven't even spent the time to figure out how these Taipans are assembled and disassembled 🤔

Anyone put a sling on one of these bad boys? I have an idea for a single point, but I'm not too thrilled about it.
