Taipan W/ SLUGS

taipan stock 645 fps stock with hst wound in .32fpe

I then cranked up regulator 5 clicks with spanner no idea where it is at it said 134bar on it , on it in marker , I then rechrono ed it and it was putting 2 washers under adjuster , and now I got 706fps 38fpe

next I removed dual transfer port and ported and polished and rechroned now 719 fps 40fpe

next I removed airtube again and ground down the inner part of valve housing to create more air flow , bench tested before and after got 200% more flow yay , re-chrono gun now I got , 731fps 41.6fpe

Next I removed 2 washers and bought a stiffer spring , the id was .005 too thin so I had to cut spring and drill id .010 I them adjusted and chronoed

792 fps 48.06fpe

Next I did re polish parts again and readjusted and now I am getting 52fpe and 823fps with MP slugs wow great increase and reverseable ,

SO I will shoot gun here for a thousand or so slugs , and if it stays tight I will remake a new hammer gun still has 0 harmonics ,

I only have 1 draw back , which is the gun was loud stock , I spoke to Donny and got a Tanto which made it super quiet , but with these mods it is way too loud again , I didnt want to do it but I put my Ronin .30 on it and it is quiet again .

also after boosting power now I did cut shot count almost in half used to get 40 plus shots with 18 gr but now with 35 gr around 20 or so

Now look how accurate this gun is , this is 10 shots OFFHAND USING A SLING ONLY , NO BIPOD NO TREE

8 OF 10 IS UNDER 1/2 MOA , NEW 22 LONG RANGE HUNTER

COMING SOONER OR LATER

I will next make a new hammer valve different dimensions and hollow it out and fill it with lead , I will also increase plenum size by 20% , I

Nice power mods and shooting . I’m interested when you say you’re going to make new a new hammer . What is the current hammer weight and how much weight do you plan on removing ?

Another option would be to double up the spring if you can get it in there . I have no idea as Ive never been inside or seen a Taipan . I like to have free flight on all my hammers , from 20 all the way up to 140 FPE . Sure it gets stiff , but I gain a lot of shots and usually makes the lock time shorter .

1. the taipan veteran is std size in .22 caliber

2. I am using MP slugs 95% lead 5%tin so they come in 1 gr or so lighter 35 grains

3.they must be sized to ,216 for this accuracy , this is the CZ BARREL IT IS DEADLY WITH MP SLUGS AT .216 WITH 95/5

I have to say it is most accurate offhand due to balance and of course trigger , My guess if other guns had this trigger it would improve accuracy .

I will keep gun this way for season make sure nothing wears from power upgrades , I do have lathe to make other mods like the hammer valve ,

OK now for hammer mod I will do , the Taipan has a hammer valve and weight 1 piece housed inside of the block which is like 16mm od channel the valve is steel and long and quite thin , I will make it fatter and hollow it out and then fill with lead for more power in future

I think I answered all if not ask please ,

also when I do air tube it has regulator then a spacer and then the valve housing it does have hole , I will remake it larger and remove 1 reg oring and install one on my spacer for reg to breathe

efficiency question

On a efficiency note I know when you power up air guns you do loose efficciency

here is what I mean and you guys tell me when you mod do you lose efficcency ? I have not tuned for efficcency I tuned for power and extreme spread , I am like 4fps spread now

BEFORE AND AFTER

LOST

40 shots x 34pe equals 1340FPE TOTAL WITH JSB 18GR

20 shots X 52fpe equals 1040 FPE TOTAL WITH MP SLUGS

SO I LOST 300FPE ON SAME FILL , I BELIEVE THIS IS OUTCOME , 300FPE LOST

HAS ANYONE EVER MODDED FOR POWER AND HAD SAME OR HIGHER NUMBER ? JUST A THOUGHT HA HA

GAINED

NOISE IS LOUDER NEEDED A BIGGER MODERATOR

OK NOW FOR % OF IMPROVEMENTS

32FPE STOCK TO 52FPE WE GOT 51% POWER GAIN SO FAR
