Taipan Veteran standard .177

I finally decided which scope I wanted to use yesterday and sighted it in at a 28 yard zero. I got it where I wanted it and then did an official 5 shot group at 28 yards to test accuracy. I could see the group was very small through the scope but didn’t realize how small until I walked down to check it out. I know this is only 28 yards but it’s the smallest group I have ever shot with any gun at any distance. Equipment is Veteran Standard .177, Crimson Trace 3 series 4-20x50 and FX 10.34 grain pellets at 928 FPS. Pics are below...

I can't say I'm surprised. I have a Standard in .22, and It's a fantastic rifle. I don't know what you will find of your average group performance. But if you ever feel the need to tweak it, try slowing it a little, maybe 880-890. Of course, if this group turns out to be representative, don't touch it!

I normally would tune for the speed you suggested. I bought this with an intention to use it for field target and 20 foot pounds is the max you can go. I wanted it to shoot with less drop for the further out targets so I have it right at 20 FPE. I tried 890 with another scope and there isn’t a difference on groups between 880 and 930 so I went with the flatter shooting tune.
