Taipan Veteran, need some help please.

I'd give a call to Charlie Frear at georgiaairguns.net

I bought my Taipan Mutant Shorty in .22 from him and he was awesome to deal with. I'm not sure he carries the Taipan's anymore but he tuned mine before shipping and can probably steer you in the right direction as to de-gasing the gun and removing the gauge pressure collar. He may also have the Wika gauges. I know edgunusa.com carries the Wika gauges for $50 a piece. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I know Charlie well. Got my Cricket from him. I will call him as I was hoping to DIY if I could, o/w will take it to him. I’m about 1.5 hours from his shop. & you are correct, he doesn’t sell them anymore, o/w would have got it from him. I actually bought a Wika, straight from Europe, $40. Thanks for the help.

"shutik"Here is video on degassing Taipan.
Make sure gun is de-cocked and insert something sturdy to push the valve.
Also noticed DonnyFl has speed dialer adjuster for Taipan that will allow you to adjust power externally.
Thank you. I may go ahead and get the speed dialer. If I take it to Charlie, I will have him install it.

Had a thought. So, I removed the front collar and unscrewed the gauge ever so slowly until I heard it leaking. Let it all bleed out. Took it off and replaced it with a Wika I had on hand. Seems to be working great so far. Thanks for all advice.

How did you remove the collar to get to the gauge stem?

Looks like it has 2-holes for pins to be inserted under the sight glass..

Sorry I did not see this. I hope the provided link did the trick. I did this a while ago so would have to look at it, as I do not remember. 😁 Will edit when I do.

Here’s a crappy picture, but you can see the little grub screw, pretty sure that’s the only thing to back out, and slides out.

I have to show my ignorance here. I have a Taipan Veteran, but what is an EDMU?

No worries, we are all here to learn. It’s Edgun’s Electronic Gauge.

Good to know. I just shoot it 'til it's low, and then refill. I'm reminded of an interview with one of the old NASCAR drivers of the '60's, when electronic engine monitoring was being developed, might have been Richard Petty, can't remember. The interviewer asked him about the importance of this real-time information that was available. His response, "Yeah, I guess that's important, but I'm gonna drive the thing 'til it blows up, so I'm not sure how I use it!"
