Taipan Target Practice Today

Took my new-to-me Taipan regular out for it's first sight-in today. Using a Leupold 3-9 X 33 EFR. After a little turret twisting: JSB 18.13 grain in .22 cal. Didn't have my crony set up .

Each target was at 25 yards and 3 shots to a 3/8 inch bulls eye. 20-25 mph wind. No proper bench rest; sitting at a card table. This gun is amazing.

100% agree that they're amazing.

Occasionally somebody will have actually shot one and have negatives to report, but the vast majority of the detractors haven't ever experienced what you did today.

If a guy is after an extremely accurate and reliable, no fuss, well built, pellet shooting MACHINE, well, that's the Taipan.

Congrats on picking up a Veteran and thanks for sharing.

I appreciate your kind words.

looks like it is a keeper , nice shooting

Many thanks.

I just got a “new to me” veteran also. In .25 it’s shooting hades at 930fps. A little hot right now, it my plan is to tone it down to about 880-900 and have a crazy accurate pellet shooter. These guns a super rugged and super fun. Congrats on yours and nice shooting!

Yep, mine is shooting around that velocity but in .22. I plan on toning mine down to around 830 fps.

Congratulation on your Taipan Veteran. I picked up a compact from one of our members several months ago. I had always thought negatively about the Veteran because of the rear cocking lever but wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. After dialing it in and shooting if for a few sessions I soon changed my mind. It has become one of my favorite rifles. It's smooth, quiet, compact, under 7 pounds and very accurate. What's not to like?!

Please consider joining us over in the general discussion sub forum in the 30 yard challenge thread. I bet your Taipan would do quite well.

Thanks for the offer! The site looks to be a lot of fun too. I still have some sorting out to do - trigger creep is to much and needs adjusting. also the Vet needs some better sighting in. Hopefully the wind will subside and I can get everything done. I'm a former small bore shooter (.22/50 feet, 4 position). High school, college, club, national). Had a scoring plug but I can't find it - moved several times over the years so who knows where it might be now? Haha.
