Taipan Rifles

Oh yeah:

The Taipan Veterans are excellent air rifles. Some have panned them for their appearance. When I saw this gun in person, I was quite impressed with its appearance.

And then, when I shot it. WOW!

The trigger = 10. Accuracy = 10. Cocking lever smoothness [sic] = 10.

At first, I was concerned about the rearward placement of the cocking lever. I had the Veteran .25 long at the range today and the placement of the lever was no problem.

* Equally important -- to my neighbors, at least -- these guns are Uber-quiet. Mine have Sumos, by DonnyFL.

Great find Matt, it’s the first time I’ve seen it. I love my long in .22, accurate with a great trigger, and quiet. I’ll have a .25 one of these days. Looks like they moved to the Czech Republic and I hope the quality remains the same, top notch. I also noticed a small change with the white spacer on the buttstock and they’re showing the laminate stock the Balista’s had on their website.

Weight? Both my Taipans are excellently balanced. This, for me, negates the weight of the rifle.

With my HST set to push 33.93 gr JSB at a clip of 51-53 FPE, I get 3, 10 round shots on reg (if memory serves me).

At first I thought, "this must be magic", with this size cylinder.

Another important feature for me was the easily adjustable power setting, with the HST accessible externally.

What about weight and shot counts? For being small, they weigh the same as my FX 400. Seems a tad on the heavy side. Thought s??

I was just shooting mine this morning. I do not find it heavy. The excellent balance overcomes any weight concerns IMHO. In terms of shot count, this morning I was shooting the 33 gr JSB's at about 940 fps. I got 30 shots in the 930 - 940 fps range then it started to drop. By shot #40 I was getting about 830 fps, but the poi was still dead on. At that point I refilled.
