Taipan Mutant in .22 Caliber

What you people need to understand is that the Taipan mutant is NOT made in china. The only issue the mutants have is that the manufacturer had problems getting the CZ barrels for the short version. The standard has the cz barrels but not the shorty. So they put a replacement barrel in it. This barrel is a china barrel marked "made in germany" for import/export purposes. This barrel is an easy replacement and a lot of people have contacted a guy who can get a Listone barrel with similar accuracy to the CZ barrels. In the near future the Mutant shortys will be available with the original barrels.

The mutant is a great gun and many people see it as the best bullpup they have owned (they also own edgun, cricket etc)

It is only the shortys that have this barrel issue, just ask Ernest Rowe what he thinks about the Mutant....

Sorry those are old videos and you don't know the current status of the barrels here in the U.S.A, we know all about those barrels and the MFR are doing there best to replace them.

By experience the Mutant has the best trigger and mag system out their.
all the readers that disagree you haven't tried one, Getting tired of tuning those Cricket, vulcan and edguns---always the mag and trigger issue. I rather re barrel the mutant with the best mag and trigger rather then re barrel a worst trigger and mag system, haven't seen an issue posted about the mutant having trigger and mag issue. and yes I have re barreled all of them one way or another for some reasons---accuracy! everybody is looking for the best accuracy---even if it's a 1 hole at 40Y.--->go figure!

C'mon guys. CAnewbie just bought his first PCP & he is looking for any tips & tricks you have for him. So far it sounds like he should clean the barrel & shoot a lot of lead!

Welcome to PCP's and we wish you lots of fun.

Hello Again,

Thanks for the feedback. I was not aware of all the barrel options. I called Peter over at Top Gun and he said that my Mutant has the original barrel that came with the initial shipment. It is NOT a CZ barrel. To be real honest - I don't really care where the barrel came from.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!

This thing shoots WAY better than the first airgun I owned. I am a pretty good shot with a firearm. However I did not expect these results.

This was at almost 30 yards. Each target has 15 shots into it. There was no wind and conditions were excellent. All five groups can be covered with a dime OR SMALLER.

HOW DO I POST A PICTURE?? HELP.

James

Yes Indeed!!! HoW bout a pic of your Gun and setup... What u think of that Trigger? It is one of the Best bullpup triggers. (i think it is the best)
The factory first stage spring is a touch heavy for my liking, i swapped mine out for a pen spring and it is perfect now. I like my first stage to be like 4 or 5 ozs...

Congrats. enjoy your shorty.

"CANewbie"ok

Let's see if this works. Here is the picture of the groups I shot earlier.

Not as hard as I thought....
Awesome! Those are great groups at 30 yards, especially for 15 shot groups! I couldn't be more pleased to see you post these groups right after the posts from those kids who were so quick to cry about the barrel on these guns. Looks like they know less than they think they do. Congrats on a great shooter, those groups are a thing of beauty.

The wind is finally letting up here in the northeast so hopefully I'll get to put up some groups tomorrow. I'd love to see some more groups out of that Mutant at 50 yards. So far I'd call that one a keeper for sure!

Regards,
Cliff

Congratulations on the Mutant ! I bought one because of Ernest recommended it to me "sniperlabyo" . Let my Buddy borrow it over a week he was on vacation, and can't pry it outta his hands. Lol
He bought it after raving he would NEVER spend over 500$ on any airgun. After he shot the Mutant a while that all went out the window . Enjoy the rifle , I'll have another one soon
