All of these thru the scope cameras are affected by the position of the sun. If the sun is bright and is shining over your shoulder into the ocular lens of the scope it causes problems. Under those conditions you need to block out the sun with some type of device . A hat brim might work. Keep in mind that these devices are compromises. The best images I can get are on cloudy days and if I can get into the shade . I’ve played with several of these cameras The go pro etc. I can get better videos thru my spotting scope using my cell phone but you almost need two people. The tactacam does about as well as any but it requires some experience to get it “ right”. Mounted to a bow or a shot gun they would do great. The whole prism thing and the thru the lens complicated it some. Good luck.

I went from side-shot to Tactacam. The biggest difference so far is you MUST use the eye focus for Tatacam - not yourself. This mean that when you remove the camera and want to just use the scope normal you must readjust to your eye again, then reverse it when you add the camera back. Also definitely difficult to align the reticle using your phone,
I had to also use my iPad and have the rifle level. Having to do this pretty much makes you pick one gun for the day with filming.

I was just not able to get the side shot to work for me. It would work great on one gun and then go to a different gun and it would be "off". The Tactacam doesn't have this problem other than having to change the eye focus each time.

I was originally going to try the Orion set up, but I am not into changing out lenses and stuff so I just wanted to plug and play.

+1 on the sunlight. It 100% comes through where you put the camera in the mount. It does distort. It's almost impossible to correct it mid sunny day. My next project is to fit the camera to the mount more permanent with some sound deadening tape and see if that makes the difference. Shouldn't matter as your access for everything is in the rear compartment anyway. We shall see.

Spend some time playing with it before you use it for hunting. It has three different mode settings that you can adjust to your liking with the app. Sometimes it’s hard to get aligned perfectly with a high power scope and turning down the power a bit helps with that.

Don’t forget the zoom option you can set for each mode with the app. Biggest challenge for me was getting it aligned well and getting the focus right.

I’m a newbie and still learning but having lots of fun. The one button start up to get it going in the field is great.

I really like mine. Did you get the FTS (film thru scope attachment)? Get the phone app & use it to center your image, select camera settings, etc. Once you get everything set & locked down, close the app on your phone or whatever, turn camera off (to disconnect wifi). From that point on just hit the power button whenever you want to record a shot. It saves a LOT of battery charge that way & as long as you centered & locked everything down the camera shouldn't shift, even if you accidentally bump it. Mine doesn't anyway. Don't forget to stop filming after you've taken your shot! BTW, I use 8x zoom & have mine set @ 120fps for great slomo.

Feel free to PM me if I can help in any way.
