Tactacam image quality with scope brand

Just an observation, but something to consider when using a scope cam. The video quality is much better with my Hawke scopes, than it is with my Aztecs. Obviously glass quality improves with higher priced scopes and the Hawke scope does cost about $150 more. Overall the Aztec Emerald looks washed out and less clear compared to the Hawke Sidewinder. I'd be interested in hearing other people experience with various scope brands.

Tell it to the South African hunters on you tube their Night force scopes had way way better image quality through their scope cams compared to the scopes they are currently using.

No idea why they switched to using inferior optics to record video.

They could just switch to the Night force scopes to make better videos to post on you tube and use the not so good scopes when not recording.

Yep. Especially if you are shooting high magnification. ( which makes sense). The best I’ve found to date is an I phone 13 thru a kowa spotting scope. I’ve had all of the thru the rifle scope systems and they work well as long as you don’t ask too much of them. The biggest problem is shooting in real bright sun light.

@bubblerboy64 You just touched upon an issue I was thinking about creating a post for advice. I’m glad I looked here first. I’m having this issue now. This picture below is a screenshot of footage that was filmed through a Bushnell Nitro 6-24x50mm SFP on 16x magnification. Tactacam 5.0 settings are on Slow-Mo (blue light), resolution 1920x1080, 120fps. The sun is over my right shoulder at between 4-5 o’clock and the sky is clear. The target is 100 yards out. I’m not sure if I set the white balance on this one at “Daylight” or “iridescent.” I tried both white balance settings and the picture looks washed out on both. When I viewed the preview on my phone it didn’t look this grainy or washed out.

What do you guys think is causing this and how can I correct it?

I've found the Tactacam makes a good product but it can be difficult to focus to a given scope. Brand may not matter. Therefore changing between scopes may result in different results when it comes to focus, without more finicky adjustments. In some cases I could never get the focus done properly.

The product delivers in my eyes to an extent but falls short. To me, it's not the best option. I like the EagleVision setup with their custom Gopro lens. I've been able to easily focus to at least 5 different scopes without as much difficulty and better success. Perhaps I didn't watch the best video on YouTube to tune my Tactacam setup but since it isn't as intuitive as simply turning the lens on my Gopro 7 aftermarket lens I gave up on the Tactacam for a Gopro plus EagleVision scope cam setup. I spent hours working on this and therefore to me its a second rate product. Queue the negative responses. I'm OK with it.. I don't want to spend hours tuning my camera. Instead I prefer minutes.

With an EagleVision and Gopro setup it's been super easy to switch between an Edgun Dedal Stalker to a Hawke scope to an Aztec scope. Definitely not so easy with the Tactacam.

This is a personal perspective I have. You can refute it, deny it but I'm set on a different platform for my scope camera usage.

I literally change between Aztec, Hawke and Edgun Dedal Stalker without spending much time using my setup. I have a YouTube channel with 2 of those scopes (edgun and Aztec) which I change my setup between them with zero changes and get great results.
