Tactacam FTS Problem

When I first got the Tactacam I had the FTS on the Right side of the scope so it would be out of the way. Everything was good. I took it off for a while. When I put it back on the scope, the Right side was blacked out. When i move it to the left side it works as normal. Just don't want it on that side because it's not ideal with it in my face. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

No matter the orientation the camera should work the same time after time. I make sure the measure the eye piece focus with calipers so I can repeat the focus before sliding on the FTS. Each scope is different. I know external light can make a picture almost completely dim. Also the picture is more dim before tightening down the camera with the Allen key. Make sure the scope FTS adaptor crease is facing down to limit light no matter the orientation, this may help, also the right size - too big will dim your picture. I take it a little further and fill the gap with some black electrical tape, which does make a some difference.

When you have the FTS on the scope and have the camera mounted and it's dim or dark, when you remove the camera does the picture on the camera become clear again through the app?

Yes I think being on the right side of the camera is allowing light to enter around the camera. It’s a problem with the tactacam system. All of these thru the scope systems are adapting cameras which were originally designed for other uses and are therefore compromises. I’ve tried them all and you can get good results under ideal conditions but it’s challenging. Cloudy days and perfect alignment will do it. Honestly the best videos are still using the I phone in my opinion. Not handy at all. Some one needs to come up with a better (user friendly) system.
