Why wouldnt you want the image stablization on all the time? If it is on and you don't need it will it affect the image quality. Not using the STS, just camera alone.

but the image 'wont' be quality if theres any movement at all and its off lol ... leave it on .. its what all the cool kids do .. where i run into issues really is with auto focus enabled at anything other than an infinity field of view setting, it usually introduces noise into the video .. theres ways to overcome that, like running a sperate mic and syncing up the audio later in the editor .. i usually keep things ultra simple though for what i do and on a lower resoultion setting to so it processes in about 1 minute lol ...
