Pesting is a dangerous business. This squirrel was in a roadway on the nursery by the woodline when I drove by in my truck. He made a mock charge at my truck before scampering up the side of a nearby tree approx. 10 yards from my truck. He froze on the side of the tree giving me the stink eye(and I think I heard him call me a dirty name), so I whipped out the new truck gun(before he charged me) to take a quick shot in self defense:

I rushed the shot(in fear for my life) and did not use the necessary hold over for such a close shot. With crosshairs just below his ear, the 8.44g @ 653fps entered top back of left shoulder and musta hit all the vitals because he dropped straight down and expired. I found the pellet lodged under the skin of the top back shoulder on the right side:

Feeling that I was lucky to escape with my life, I gave the TP a twist up to the Med setting(upping the power to 14 ft/lb), clicked the scope down 4 clicks(for a new zero at 25 yards), and felt more prepared for future dangerous squirrel encounters.

30 minutes later, I had another customer. This squirrel musta been a vengeful relative of the earlier squirrel because he was obviously planning a "death from above" type maneuver as he was about 20 feet up a tree trying to outflank me. I ranged him at 38 yards. When I looked through the scope, there was no doubt about it; he had murder in his eyes! It was me or him, so I took the shot:

8.44g @ 860fps entered between right eye and ear and exited through the other side stopping him instantly:

Pesting is a dangerous business, and I feel fortunate to have survived the day.

I believe I will leave the power up from now on, and pray I don't have to raise it any higher😜
