Alright so I understand that new barrel system will be more versatile. More accurate I doubt that.
the thing is air rifle barrels have small ODs ( small diameter) So why make a barrel that is smaller yet?
I get being light weight is nice but isn’t rigidity more important? Is a STX barrel more likely to droop?
I just get why people want a light weight barrel? I’ve heard of people just putting a sumo on the end of the STX barrels and it makes them droop. I seen on the forum a guy said his shot 3in low at 25yrds with a sumo! That’s alot.
wouldn’t it make more sense to make a barrel stronger than weaker?I dont know the size of the two tubes that make up the STX barrels but its obvious they are smaller and most people I think are gonna want the 700mm version which would be even worse I think.
I guess my question is, how is a the barrels better?
and being able to shoot different pellets instead a reason.the thing I do find interesting is the slug liners but at the sametime I can buy and machine a LW barrel myself for slugs a lot cheaper thank 450 on a barrel kit.
air rifles and firearms are the same but different. Most match grade rifles have bull barrels for multiple reasons, so why shouldn’t a match grade air rifle?I’m not trying to bash the barrel seeing ive never had one like most people and i think it’s a ” cool ” idea for sure and I honestly dont know a better way to make a lined barrel haha
with that being said I’ll still probably pick one just to try out ?Alright so I understand that new barrel system will be more versatile. I just thought that was a normal shift in poi that can happen when you fit a moderator just coincidence it was down. I have a Crown and there is no way it droops. Don’t forget the moderator is on the shroud so there 3 ridged tubes.
Personal opinion is the ST-X is a more consistently accurate barrel. I don’t doubt people have barrels as accurate but you do hear people speak about the barrel lottery. I haven’t heard one report of someone being disappointed with there ST-X accuracy. It’s no longer a lottery. The best group I’ve shot at 100y was with my Crown and ST-X normal Kings.I read the post about the sumo on the smooth x.
