Stressing on 1st PCP

Imold, I hear ya. So what you are saying it's like potato chips; you can't stop at just one right? You know I remember as a kid I would read the NRA "American Rifleman" and see the articles of the "wonder nines" and fell in love with the lines of the SIG P226. Boy, I was hooked and now I have shot SIGs, Glocks, 1911's and loved them all! Now I'm repeating history again and lusting for these babies. man, I don't mind getting older but it seems I refuse to grow up. LOL!

3 tins right? Sage advise.

Agreed about the AA S200T, I have one in .177cal and love it!!! About to drop a reg in one of the air cylinders I got and you can’t argue with the accuracy of that CZ barrel.

@airranger— good call on adding the reg! Mine’s the HUMA external and I really like it.

Before reg: ES 18 fps; SD 7.6 fps over 50 shots

Post reg: ES less than 10 fps (6 to 9 typically); SD = less than 4 fps over 60 shots.

Highly recommend the HUMA external. Takes up no reservoir space, requires no drilling vent hole and is easy to install.

Cheers,

Matt

No worries! Agreed it is tough to decide without actually shooting them. I make a list of the 10 or so most important features to me, separating the truly must-haves from the nice-to-haves. Then I narrow the brands down to 2 or 3 that appeal to me and have products in my price range. I read/view as many reviews as I can and score the guns against my feature list. Youtube video reviews can be helpful evaluating noise levels, etc.. All this can get you pretty close. Keep in mind, it is unlikely that your first PCP will be your last. Once you have shot it awhile, you will have the benefit of experience when purchasing the next one and it will be much easier.

I would suggest 2 to choose from when considering 177 traditional PCP rifles. I have Air Arms and BSA guns too so I can give you an honest non biased opinion here.

1 Daystate Regal XL with HUMA Regulator if you can afford it. I have an unregulated version and its a 50 yard tack driver no problems whatsoever

Buy a Huggett for it if you need it absolutely quiet because the factory one is only so-so.

2 Benjamin Marauder Field and Target with Lothar Walther barrel which has a 5 year warranty. With the money you save buying this one you can get a good quality scope and mounts. This one is really quiet out of the box and has a very good trigger. I have several Marauders and they are great guns especially with the Lothar Walther barrel upgrade and the regulator for the Field and Target is icing on the cake.

@Richieg. I have been on again and off again looking at these PCP's and was waiting on the 2019 SHOT show. I wish I was there because I think everything is going to fall to feel. I watch all these reviews but honestly, I don't think these guys are willing to say "critical" comments. I suppose for them it's like biting the hands that feed them sort of thing. For example they will say "X" brand is wonderful, etc. but when you get to the forum boards, people are indicating long standing issues like leaks (HW110). I was just watching a video on the new FX Dreamline and thought what you just said. "Buy once, cry once". I like the idea of converting from .177 to .22 or stock configurations.

So now, my question is trying to figure out do I want:

A) BSA R10SE

B) FX Dreamline

C) HW110 carbine

D) AirArms s510

It simply sucks I cannot easily get a feel for the rifles unless I make a long distance field trip somewhere.

Just get the you think you will like. Guns in the same price range often have a lot in common. Or drive to AoA or Utah airguns and try different guns.
