Shot a pest rabbit tonight. The first photo shows one side of his face, with lots of hair missing. Pretty sure this wasn't the result of the pellet strike. The eyeball - I'm not so sure. It really doesn't look like the result of the pellet, which went into the front of the head closer to the other eye. I think this rabbit just had some kind of disease.
@Ray1377, you're probably right, that's what it looked like. And as @Bob_O said, it's a good thing that I ended its suffering. It was just sitting in the yard, looking kinda miserable. But I couldn't see that side of its head so I didn't realize it until after I collected it.
