Those half moon wrenches are used to remove the metal flip up lens covers. If you'll look at the end of the screw in portion of the lens covers you'll see a couple of small slots that the wrench fits into. The larger wrench is for the objective end.

So that is what those things are????????? i thought it was just spare parts that got tossed in there.

Holy Moly! Thanks for the info on those half moon 'extra' pieces, Jking!!! I also thought they were 'spare parts' when I opened my new AAS510. Since I had to focus my scope, the flip up cover opens to the side instead of upwards. Now I know what to check for to move it instead of using a screw driver.
