STOLEN: FX Wildcat mkii .22

I feel your pain. My house was burglarized about 18 years ago. They made away with my Remington 870 Police Magnum, H&K USP 40 and an old preban Yugoslavian AK47 underfolder. They even stole my sister's Lorcin .25 ACP pistol that I was holding for her. Up till this day, when ever I enter my house, I quietly listen for anyone inside that shouldn't be there. They'll get blasted and not by an airgun.

Question? Was your gun case visible? Whenever I travel with long arms inside my vehicle, I usually cover the gun case with a towel or blanket so thieves don't take a second look. Also, did any of your cousin's neighbors have CCTV cameras? Hope the bastard(s) is/are caught.

Sorry to hear this , just makes me sick I feel your pain as it happed to me when I got back from RVN . I had a rental house at the time I sat there for three days with a 45 hopeing they would come back but didn't happen . I'm just south of you so I'll keep a eye out in Vancouver . Hope you can get some revenge , if there are any stores nearby maybe some camera footage that early in the morning of rigs going by from your direction . Good luck Darell

Yeah, for everyone talking about insurance, I had Washington’s bare minimum. I have a insured license with liability. I drive a company rig that I don’t have to insure. I barely drive this 4Runner. Sooooo, the insurance isn’t going to help out.

Thank you brother. I live just north of you in Longview. I have called EVERY gun and pawn shop from Gresham to Kennewick.

With as long as that damn case was, my seats were folded down. The back windows medium tint. If you were to cup your eyes, would could visably see what was back there. I keep my interior very clean. Just dawned on me....the bastards got my HS Casio and my damn Side-Shot! Those bastards.....the main police officer and I went to the manager office for the cctv cameras. There is one main entrance for vehicles and open access all the way around it. The bastard come from within the complex or just south of it. All the back yards of the residential houses have gates to the path in between them and the apartment complex.

Check with homeowners insurance as well. They cover surprisingly more things than i though they would. Quickly found this online

  • Renters or homeowners insurance will cover belongings stolen from the car as long as they aren’t permanently affixed. For example, it will cover your smartphone but not the car stereo.

It wasn’t my house.

We probably should all make it a habit to request the serial number on a gun being sold on a classifieds section, in an open forum, especially to someone with low post count or one “not familiar” to the forums. That is, if your interested in buying what the seller is selling.

Which brings up a good point- how many of you are prepared in case this happens to you? You all have serial numbers stashed in an organized fashion? And not just relying on it being on the receipt from a gun you purchased three years ago? I know I’m not organized that way. I got some work to do, lol

Rokynutz, if you don’t mind, can I share a quick story of a buddy of mine who got ripped off, but caught the thief? Yeah, my buddy was in his bedroom of his parents house doing homework(college student at the time) and he had a silent alarm rigged up on his Toyota 4x4(hot ticket item to steal back in the 80’s). That night he say the receiver of his alarm flashing lights, so he runs downstairs and outside with no shirt(he was yoked out then) and a 44 mag revolver in his hand. Two out of the thre thieves ran off, but the kid doing the hot wiring was too deep under the dash to make it out in time. He tried to run, but my buddy yelled FREEZE! and the kid stood there like a statue in the middle of the street.

My buddy and his Dad yanked that kid in and tied him up to a chair. Dad had been drinking, and my buddy joined up. As they were taking Jack Daniel shots they would ask each other what to do with the kid, each time smacking him upside the head as the walked by him. Pretty soon the questions became what to do “with the body”.

Dad says “ we'll just choke him out slowly, chop him up in pieces, and bury him out back by the garden. No one will know.”

Now mind you, this kid by now had bruises all over his face from slap marks, and was crying for his life. Begging, please, please, I’m sorry! I won’t do it again, please!

What he didn’t know, is my buddy already had called the cops and they were on their way. Hopefully that kid went the straight path in life after that ordeal.

In Texas all serial #s of stolen weapons/tools/etc.are automatically sent to all pawn brokers. They can not sell must sit on the weapon for a certain time maybe 30 days before putting it out for sale. Probably same in your state. If it goes to pawn shop you will get it back after short court hearing been there done that. BUT this does not apply for private sales. KEEP a eye on your local CRAIGSLIST , E BAY and any sales sheet in your area. Most thieves Know serial #s means no pawn shops. I sure feel for you and hope you get your stuff back. Nothing worse than a man working his butt off for something and then a low life steals it. Sorry for your loss James.

It doesnt have to be at your home... look up off premesis coverage.

I don’t know why I thought of this but back in the 80’s when having a tape deck in your car was usually done as an aftermarket option. I had just put a new one in my car and having a few stolen from me in the past I decided to booby trap it. I crazy glued some single edge razor blade to the back edge of the deck and slid it into the mounting bracket. Fortunately these were the days before the overpopulation of lawyers were screwing up doing the right thing.

I worked in a good part of town but the criminals know that and that’s where they work also. I don’t remember how long it was for some criminal to break into my car. But fortunately I had leather seats as I had a mess to clean up on day. I had called the police and they literally had the fingerprints of the guy who broke in lying on the floor mat in my car and they arrested him in the hospital. I know today with how unfortunately things have changed this wouldn’t be the thing to do but at the time it was right and I bet that SOB would think twice before he tried it again.

Keeping good records is a must. I learned that in high school wheeling and dealing, cars and trucks. Plus I just so happen to have a couple pictures, along with paperwork with the S/N visiable.

Now the story of your buddy and his dad....that was hilarious. To be honest....idk what I would do if I was able to get my hands on the person. I’ve been in enough trouble in my short 32 years...I really don’t want anymore. But, then...there is that little voice on my shoulder telling me, “ahh what the heck, tune that PoS up! Give him a good Ol’ Fashion, passionate ass whoopin”. Although, again, that train of thought has gotten me into A LOT of trouble through the years.

If you purchased the gun and items with a Credit card the CC Company might replace the items. Some will!

American Express paid for my portable GPS that was taken from my car I just had to send in my receipt and a police report which showed the car was broken into.

It was Debit. But, wait...CC’s replace items?! Hmm....I might need to get one of them things. Haha 😂

That is awesome!!! I honestly would have done the same thing. I had a ‘73 S/W stepside chevy in high school. Typical story of throwing hay for a farm all summer. He also had this badass truck sitting in a lean-to. It was nasty! 😂 cleaned it up to find all numbers matching... limited surface rust...blah blah blah. It was stolen my Junior year from my works parking lot. My buddy watched it happen, called it in and then followed.

It took the cops 3 mins to nail him. Lol some 40 year old tweaker that knew how easy it was to hot wire a older vehicle was in my rig and gone in less than 20secs.

My buddy that chased the guy down and called the cops, his dad was an old school mechanic. He first helped me install a series kill switch and installed low-jack. If tweaker aren’t just reliable. THE SAME GUY TRIED TO STEAL IT TWO WEEKS LATER!

I was standing at the back door to the pizza shop and I could here this whining of a starter....i don’t know about y’all, but, a person who loves their vehicle....knows the sound signature of every thing on their vehicle. Plus...a big cam in a 454...that whine is audible and noticeable.

I called the cops, they show up, he’s still trying to figure out what sequence the toggles needed to be in...complete idiots thieves are.
