Stock mounted bottle PRod

http://imgur.com/a/QmQPBhVPicked up a used PRod as I didn't have anything .22. Wanted it regulated and I had several small ninja bottles from my paintball days. Pulled the guage and mounted some braided line to a paintball bottomline asa. Regulated to 1400psi pushing crosman 14.3 hp's 710ish fps. Hammer spring is slightly shorter and heavier than stock, still trying to eliminate the hammer bounce. Valve port is opened up to match barrel port and rubber tubing transfer port. Huma 30mm standard 4 section .25 moderator. Discovery VT-3 3-12x44 sfp scope. Not to bad so far.

Nice !
I’ll post your photo so no need for the link

Is that a Cothran tube? I'm thinking of doing the same to my 1720, as I have an extra P-Rod/1720 tube. a bottle and a 1800 psi reg.

I've in mind an idea to mod a Maximus valve, as they run hotter at a lower fill pressure. Pretty sure the valve retention screws line up the same?

We'll see.

Yep, it's a Cothran tube. I'm currently doing some retuning, hoping to get a good amount of shots at 12 fpe and it'll be my wife's backyard pester.

Chris: If you don't mind me asking what parts went into that mod? I'm interested in doing the same for my Prod as I'm modding for more shots and easier filling (hate taking my Tatsu off all the time), for the same type of duty pesting pidgeons where my wife rides her horse. I just looked up the Cothran site so that's the tube. Why that tube vs the Prod tube? And of course the valve block source in particular. That a ninja custom valve?

Sorry for all the questions, but have nothing better to do than mod the Prod;)

652006-1 drop-block gauge part number.

Give them a call for confirmation.

Another option is the drop block from Archer Airguns for the QB:

QB tubes are about the same as the 22xx's/17xx's in dimensions.

Thanks, I will and report back...

The latest is that Umarex plans to have them back in stock but they don't have an ETA. Likely a Covid related supply issue. There are a few drop blocks around but most are out of stock (e.g. RAI). This one on ebay (CUSTOM TANK BLOCK for Crosman 2240, 2250, 2260, 2300KT, 2400KT & custom builds | eBay) is available but butt ugly (too wide) for a Prod in my opion. Archer has two versions available for a QB97 but given that's built for a CO2 gun, are they recommended for an application where you put in a Ninja valve to regulate the tube presssure down to an acceptable level, say sub 1500psi? If so, they don't look too bad to mod and install.

Opinions? Or did I just hijack a thread ;)

Sorry to link to GTA, but here's my build thread.

I went with this tube because it is the shortest possible tube without the tank block running into the valve face, which means the bottle is as close to the shooter as possible for better ergonomics. Same deal with the short Ninja reg and smaller 9ci bottle. All about making the gun as ergonomic as possible.

So I think I got this sorted out. Ended up using a paintball asa and a 1/8" npt coupler to mount the tank under the old gauge port. Took off the front handguard and just need to make a band to help hold the tank on. If that doesn't pan out, then I will just put the handguard back on and mount some kydex around the tank and screw it to the sides of the handguard. Buck-Rail adjustable stock gives a way better cheekweld than the backpacker crosman stock. Went with a slightly lighter weight valve spring and hammer spring with no turns on either the hammer spring or striker throw. Cocks nice and easy. With 3 square o-rings bstaley style I am getting 710-715 fps with crosman 14.3 HP, which is fine by me. Touched up the crown while it was all apart and looking to bust some squirrels this weekend as the temps in missouri are finally breaking from the amazon jungle weather we've been having.
